  1. I hate reform, but nobody should be forced to take stupid diversity training.

  2. They are just doing what most reform voters do, avoiding education at all costs 🙂

  3. > A Reform UK council leader has confirmed that his group will not take part in diversity **or climate** training as part of their new roles as elected officials.

Funny how they missed that part from the headline. Although I imagine there is a significant overlap on the people who hate both diversity and the environment.

Of course, not turning up to the training doesn’t make their legal obligations go away. I wonder how long until the council gets sued because they implemented a policy that would have been obviously unlawful to anyone who had attended the briefing (either on the equality or environmental side).

  4. Also, people that are nodding and thinking ‘good on you Reform’, they are also refusing any training on how any of their decisions might affect the environment.

So these are the people who will be deciding whether companies should be allowed to put sewage in your rivers, or build a refuse-burning center just outside of town, or deciding whether the old asbestos from the old council building should be disposed of correctly or just cheaply buried in the disused area behind the community swimming pool, _literally refusing to learn about what effect their decisions will have on the environment_ – then making the decision based on, er, gut feel? Not really giving a shit?

I guess this is counted as, er, sticking it to the elite, or defeating the deep state, or something.

EDIT: Before you think I’m just a hippy – I’m not saying building the refuse-burning building is a _bad idea_, I’m saying ‘refusing point-blank to even understand the debate, out of some bizarre principle, before making the call’ is just ridiculous.

  5. If they don’t like the training which comes with the job, they should resign and let someone who is willing to do it in-line with the training requirements take their role.

Laughable that people even think this group of charlatans will be anywhere near number ten in 2029.

  6. Has anyone here actually taken diversity training? It’s literally about being tolerant of other’s beliefs and showing respect. How is that controversial in 2025?

  7. This ‘story’ was also published over a week ago, and the council confirmed then that the training that Reform refuse to attend doesn’t exist anyway.

  8. This will become a liability issue that’ll cost their councils a fuck load.

  9. Is anyone really surprised at such behaviour? The inbreds who vote for these whoppers will be seal clapping them…..until things start to affect them.

  10. how training normally goes, logs in to workstation starts the training slide deck/automated training, continues to hit next as fast as humanly possible, skim the multiple choice at the end, training completed, gets back on with real work that generates revenue.

  11. You can tell who has done any of this kind of ‘training and who hasn’t’ it’s not some ‘woke’ you have to say there are more than two genders or you get shot it’s along the lines of if someone has a job interview at your place but they’re hard of hearing how would you accommodate that, why should you accommodate that, if it isn’t accommodated how would that person feel, is it an example of discrimination? Like that’s it, just that boring lol I wish it was whacky like the reform lot make out, it would make it a lot more fun.

  12. Be interested to see if any of these councillors find alternatives to this training by going on all expenses fact finding trips.

  13. Good….

We had an incident at work between two women (one south african and the other english) and the English woman was told it was a cultural shock for her…. EXCUSE ME? It’s a cultural shock for the south african women to behave like she does in England.

Diversity training is an absolute pile of bollocks promoted by the left which in my opinion just causes the opposite effects… Racism, homophobia is all on the rise and i blame most of this training FORCED upon you…

People get so fed up of hearing it 24/7 and for the regular people that dont have problems with other people in this world shouldnt have to be taught it…

Teach it to the people that have committed offence and thats that.

You dont put every driver on a speed awareness course do you?

  14. Reform is following the Republican party play book, anti woke, anti climate, anti immigrant, anti trans, anti common sense and if taken far enough for long enough anti human race.

It’s not Reform we need, it’s to realise that the things they are for and the people backing the party are the real reason things are going down the toilet.

  15. It’s insane my town of kettering voted green but because Tories bankrupted NNC we all had to be run and merge woth NNC ridiculously unfair these idiots running our council despite my town being somewhat progressive.

  16. Why is climate change being pushed as a left/right political issue. It happens whether you believe in it or not.

Being wilfully ignorant is not a proud boast. Being taken to court for actions which could have been avoided if they attended the training is not good use of taxpayers money.

They’re still required to follow the law regarding protected characteristics and still required to plan for the future.

  17. Why are Reform anti-climate?

I get that they’re the racist party. They don’t like foreigners and people with certain skin colours – that’s just their (thoroughly unpleasant) opinion. What does the climate have to do with it? Why do you have to oppose the science on climate change in order to be a racist party? The two aren’t linked.

  18. Almost enough to make you feel sorry for a council HR department. The next few years are likely to be full of claims and grievances about councillors saying impolite things to the staff.

  19. I wonder if any such training actually exists? Or if it does is it just informing them- these are the rules we have to abide by to prevent the council getting sued for lots of money?

  20. Diversity training being skipped by those who need it the most.

It’s basic stuff like “don’t assume someone with a disability doesn’t want to come for a team event”, or knowing what a screenreader does.

Ignorance is bliss I guess. I hope they get a taste of their own medicine.

  21. The amount councils that will fail will be funny. This lot won’t be able to manage the bins

  22. I hope they understand (they probably don’t) that every decision, action, or policy that they introduce in their Council’s require (each time) that they complete an Equality and Impact Assessment and a Public Sector Equality Duty Review.

This is required every single time. It’s a legal obligation and failure to complete these assessments means they have broken the law.

Once a few decisions or policies have been made; FOI on every Reform Council – lets see how many break the law or those who break their own parties policies around DEI.

  23. Of course they refuse training.

That would mean turning up and doing a couple of hours’ work.

  24. I’m on the fence over this. The courses I’ve had to do with work have been glorified box ticking exercises, and I would argue a waste of money.

If I was responsible for hiring I could however see a slight benefit to it.

  25. Any form of DEI,CRT and ESG is essentially racist against Indo Europeans

It deserves to be abolished from all factors of society!

  26. Good on the for not taking pointless dei training… Best person for the job don’t be racist

  27. Well done. So far they have saved time watching two thirty minute videos. What geniuses!

  28. Good. As they should, this is afterall, EXACTLY. WHAT. THEIR. VOTERS. AND. MEMBERS. VOTED. FOR.

Freedom and democracy, to be legitimate, is all about being inconvenient to you, about doing things you despise. So, if they go around doing diversity training, they are betraying their voters and members and as such should be free of any legal obligation to do so. So the law lets them give their voters and members what they want.

  29. The definition of a bigot is not wanting to learn.

This is why there’s no point in debating these people. It’s one way politics, they are crypto fascists.

  30. Politics aside diversity training is the biggest waste of time imaginable.

Skip through 40 slides without reading them but the horrible work computers and even worse website make it take forever to skip slides. Then answer 10 questions that are all along the lines of “Your colleague John comes out as gay. Is it ok to call John a poof?”

  31. Not totally sure why diversity training is institutionalised anyway. If you’re the type of individual who ‘needs’ the training, you’re not going to be clicking through some shitty-put together slideshow and come to some profound view-changing experience.

Have always felt this kind of virtuous cockshoddle does more harm than good.

  32. Looking at the picture, they probably won’t need it anyway.

  33. sensible policies for a happier britain

(joking, these guys are absolute clowns)
