‘It’s all very well emoting about the Palestinians, but where is the legislation abolishing the cap at the airport?’ – Michael O’Leary blasts ministers

  1. It was a comment made in bad taste but his point that Irish politicians love to talk but hate to take action rings true.

  2. His point stands. We seem to be standing still wanting to just be about expressing support for Palestine. Our world has to move on too. I know I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this. Just heard on news as well that the vaping legislation is also at a standstill. Why are these things not moving quicker!! You can express support and actually get stuff that will have an impact done simultaneously

  3. Waiting for all the “If O’Leary ran the country” brigade.

Fuck off. Government is not in place to serve you and your company.

Shock horror. Man who runs low cost airline that would remove seats if he could, needs increased numbers and capacity to grow.

You setup your company to be a race to the bottom and low cost. We are not here to serve your growth.

  4. For a second there I had thought he was on about Shannon airport. My fatal mistake was thinking O’Leary wasn’t a sociopath I guess…

  5. Human suffering is all well and good but what about my company making more money?

  6. O Leary is just caught in a loop. He just mumbles “passenger cap” 200 times a day. Everyone in the office is sick of it, let me tell you

  7. It is true though to be fair, Palestine’s a good cause to support obviously but the government are only talking about it to keep people on their side they don’t care.

  8. If O’Leary rubbed the magic lamp what would his three wishes be and would he leave the rest of us the fk alone if he got them?

  9. Incoming Dublin to Tel-Aviv (Gaza strip airstrip) low fares…

  10. F ryanair and Palestine… neither give a shite about the irish

  11. He’s right though. Two things can be right at once. What’s going on in Gaza is obviously bad but the government are 100% using it to deflect from there own failings

  12. He’ll be emoting when he can do cheap flights to Gazas beachfront hotels

  13. *He was commenting after Ryanair reported a full-year profit after tax of €1.61bn for the 12 months to the end of March 2025, down from €1.92bn in the previous year.*

This Muppet is equating his fall in profit….to the slaughter of people.

  14. 40 years later and he’s still fooling you all into his genius marketing.

  15. “it’s all very well emoting about the Palestinians being slaughtered but what about my shareholders and profit margins”

  16. He’s so right, housing, infrastructure, vision etc all missing from the government and opposition focused on a singular overseas issue. Never about Yemen, Sudan or other places.

  17. I remember Micheal Martin used Ryanair purchasing american planes as his primary example of us buying american, during his discussion with trump at the white house.

Then about 2 days later, gov announced lifting the cap was now on their short term agenda.

I know mcgregor kind of messed up the natural flow of politics during this time but it seems as though Micheal O Leary is still owed that favour after allowing his company to be used like that by our gov officials.

  18. He’ll regret saying that. He always came across as a prick but you could excuse him for being a good businessman but that comment shows a whole different side which won’t go down well.

  19. I’m not against abolishing the cap at the airport but I aint spending any time on it because in the meantime every three months a person gets torn to pieces by a crocodile in northern Queensland.

  20. This is how O’Leary does things. He’s gotten attention for the issue he cares about by saying something so outrageous that you have to notice

  21. I didn’t think there were any depths left for this man but there we go. He found a new one. What a despicable man he is, clearly devoid of humanity.

  22. Might be a good time to bring up I’m travelling home from scotland next week and instead of Ryanair I got the sail and rail ticket, which was cheaper, no restriction on what I can bring, I don’t have to leave mad early or mad late to get a cheap ticket, and I can do my days work while I travel. And best of all, don’t have to give Ryanair any of my money! Though full disclosure I’m afraid of flying so I am biased slightly

  23. Grade A hate on here for OLeary – as usual he is thankfully offending all the right people😂!! Never change Michael , begrudgers and envy the toxic combination of the keyboard warriors ….

  24. The Healy-Raes will never vote to abolish the cap.

  25. Politicians can and do use popular talking points to distract from the work they aren’t doing, not that it makes O’Leary any less of a gobshite.

  26. Obviously a very clickbaity headline but this is one instance where I suspect the public care more about the lofty human rights issue (Palestine) than the bread and butter stuff (airport)

  27. O’Leary seemingly can find infinite new ways to be a wanker.
