I bet the next generation of Russians who just got banned on PSN will grow up with a great sense of love towards the west. And banning kids from online play will surely destroy the Russian army

  19. Mmh megabased. If only steam did the same. My account got hacked by a russian and I was only able to recover it in time because I immediately saw the access from Moscow, Russia. Close call.

  20. Bad move – it sets a dangerous precedent for the gaming community, and it’s also pointless. It risks alienating young Russians, many of whom are primarily against the war, and may push them further toward anti-Western views.

    Some commenters below have suggested forcing Russia into an isolated intranet bubble – but they fail to understand two things:

    1. This aligns perfectly with the Russian government’s goals. And anyone supporting such an outcome should carefully consider the implications of aligning with that agenda.

    2. The result would be another North Korea – but with a far larger population and vastly more nuclear weapons.

  28. Well, blocking us in Play Station/Steam/etc and writing comments about it may make you a bit happier for a moment, and that’s understandable. But what also should be understandable, is that it has close to zero impact on Russian army destroying Ukrainian towns. Really efficient measures – like going to the war (and probably dying there), or really stop buying our oil and gas (as I understand you’re still buying it via third-party countries) – would be pretty uncomfortable for you

    Affected by this are kids, younger population of Russians which are not guilty only by being born in Russia. They are not decision makers.

    And I see comments of others, hating someone only because being russian. Those are not european values of equality etc.

    In many eastern countries decisions are made by elites, you cannot do anything about it since country is not democratic or elections are not fair.
