The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating seven years of marriage. On May 19, Meghan Markle marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram tribute to Prince Harry. She shared a photo of a corkboard decorated with snapshots from their journey together over the years, and captioned: “Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories.” In the post, Meghan also expressed gratitude to those who have supported the couple, both by their side and from afar, before ending with a sweet and simple anniversary wish.
The anniversary special post contained pictures from the couple’s royal engagement, romantic dates, vacations, captures Meghan’s pregnancy journey, and their life as parents to their kids, Archie and Lilibet.
What seemed like a simple, romantic anniversary post from the Duchess quickly stirred controversy online, as some users reignited conspiracy theories about Meghan Markle’s pregnancy. The images shared in the tribute once again fueled speculation claiming that Meghan had used a surrogate and faked her baby bump, rumours that have circulated on the internet for years despite no credible evidence.
Many even claimed that Meghan wore a prosthetic known as a moonbump, with hundreds of tweets and videos analysing pictures of the former actress at various stages of pregnancy.
Reigniting a similar discussion, users were seen dishing out theories about a possible fake. One wrote, “A very blurry pic of MM with a pregnant belly exposed. The pic below of Harry and an infant looks very strange for some reason – almost AI-like. But, interestingly, none of MM in the hospital just after giving birth and happily holding a just-born baby,” while another added, “No photos of Lili’s sonogram and of her pregnancy. The kid’s hair isn’t ginger/red.”
“Her ultrasound is a photo of an ultrasound. Not the one that comes from a doctor’s visit,” another comment read. One of the users provided a detailed analysis of the picture, only to conclude with, “The ultrasound pic doesn’t show her info, and the belly pic is oddly shiny and dark. I still don’t think she carried the children, but I do believe they used her eggs, and she doesn’t like seeing her old face on the children.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, son Archie, in 2019, when the speculations started gaining strength. They welcomed their second one, daughter Lilibet, in 2021.
