The answer is simple, they’re pissed off that certain Americans effectively have a negative tax rate.
Meaning, by the time they get their credits (child credits, etc etc), they get a full refund that’s more than they paid in at all.
Frankly, I don’t care, they need it. The wealthy have created this wildly unequal system where 30% of the population can barely afford to stay alive and they’ve never had to even look at a price tag before to see if they can afford the thing they want to buy.
I am doing well, I am not rich, but I have no problem with this current setup.

The poor didn’t bribe them with political donations, so the poor are being punished with higher taxes and cuts to Medicaid.
Rs are just making fully transparent that they are the party of bribes.
