  1. I would laugh, if I didn’t think Reform was more dangerous

  2. I’m no political strategist but maybe laser focussing on trans people isn’t a big vote winner

  3. When is the deadline where they can remove her again?

  4. I don’t know what it would take for me to entertain voting Tory in my lifetime at this point, such is the scale of their failures from 2010-2024. I guess if, for some reason, they were the only party that could credibly beat a far-right or far-left (by which I mean Galloway-esque) challenger, that’s about the only circumstance.

Their ideology is completely wack, their execution of said ideology is incompetent even if you liked it, and they show basically no acknowledgement of just how much damage they have done to the country – without contrition, why would I forgive them?

They have poisoned the well very thoroughly.

  5. Conservatives really are in the shitter.

No leadership, no potential stars, no real strategy and can’t figure out if they want to be a strong conservative right leaning party or just use the words without the actions.

They should have years on the sidelines, learning their mistakes and get someone like Ben Wallace back in to lead them.

  6. In my life time (32 years), the tories have been in government for 17 of those years and every single time they do a piss poor job only looking out for themselves and their donors. The destruction of the tory party can’t come soon enough, i can’t wait to see this abomination of a party disappear.

  7. Next election is Reform vs Labour; the Tories just don’t know it yet.

  8. They shouldn’t be fourth. They shouldn’t be the 2nd biggest Party in the UK right now.

They destroyed this country. People don’t seem to be admitting to themselves just how bad a position we are in right now. Never mind Brexit, Our Public Sector will take generations to fix after 14 years of Budget cuts hollowing them all out.

  9. Said they’d reduce immigration to <100k, pushed it to 1 million instead (whether one agrees with it or not, it is offensive to be brazenly lied to).

Anyone still voting for them must be suffering from something.

  10. It may be time for the old school conservatives, the ones who invented the single market, to “take back control” (hint hint nod nod) of this headless chicken of a a party.

  11. > … Conservatives 16%

    > The YouGov survey, carried out in the last two days, puts Reform UK in the lead on 29%, seven points ahead of Labour, who are on 22%.

    > The Lib Dems are on 17%, having leapfrogged the Tories into third place.

    Ref 29%

    Lab 22%

    LibD 17%

    Tory 16%

If you assume Reform voters are either Tory and Labour, perhaps 70% Tory and 30% Labour. In a scenario without Reform then Tory might be 36% and Labour could be 29%.

    This is mid electoral-cycle-blues.

  12. The more you try to move to the right, you not gaining that many voters as they are already in Reform who is better at bullshitting, and you are losing voters from the centre-right to Labour, Lib Dems or none.

Not to mantion that they are just going 100% to the culture wars, when most people want a better living standard.

  13. Positioning yourself as a reform alternative is stupid because you’ll always be out flanked by Farage. What exactly do the Tories stand for any more? There appears to have been very little introspection after the election and they have learnt precious few lessons from the past. Instead she’s treading the same old tired ground about beating “wokeness” without coming across as a sensible opposition. This hands votes to Reform and splits the right wing.

  14. The Tories were fucked the second Boris purged the party of talent and replaced them all with loyalists. All the useless bastards that followed him, Truss, Sunak and now Badenoch are all just Johnson yes-men when it comes down to it and have no idea how to run a country.

Badenoch herself is just pointless, she opposes literally everything just for the sake of opposing. Remember when she went on a tangent about sandwiches being woke somehow? Utterly useless and knowing the Tory membership they’ll somehow vote in the worst option yet again.

  15. Who gives a toss about a tiny, irrelevant fringe party like the Tories? Dedicated to lining their pockets and those of their chums whilst fucking up about everything they touched or talked about for 14 years. Consign them to the history books and we’ll all move on.

  16. The worst thing is that it took voters ten minutes to even remember that the Lib-Dems still exist. “Oh yeah, that lot, still better than the Tories.”

  17. They moved from running the country to pleasing donors, but then fell into ‘give the people what they want’, chasing approval rather than putting forward sensible, solid policy.

  18. There’s always a lot of chatter about how reform are doing, but can we take a moment to appreciate that the greens are now at 10%?

Very little media coverage towards this, mostly due to them having little buy in from big media backers

  19. I am not sure if their comms are bad or if it is the state of the media at the moment, but I see fewer new articles about the actual opposition than I do about reform and, while not on the same level, the Lib Dems too. It could just be that the Tories are doing nothing newsworthy other than losing supporters.

  20. Ironically I suspect the only way for the Tories to survive is to swing back to the centre and start selling themselves as business friendly, economically sensible moderates. Reform and Labour are busy fighting it over the Brexiteer vote. Why split it 3 ways? There’s a lot of old school tories with no natural political home, and there’s a lot to be said for making yourself the moderate party.
Of course, they threw all the people who might be capable of leading the party in this way out.

  21. I’ve never voted Tory but focussing on trans people and doing nothing else is not going to change my mind.

  22. I’m still baffled that anyone would vote Reform. Haven’t we learnt from single issue voting? Besides hating brown people their other policies include allowing fox hunting and selling NHS assets and having a US style healthcare system. Do their voters even know this?

  23. So will the media start giving the Lib Dems the same level of attention that Reform got when they were 3rd in the polls?

  24. Finally they get what they deserve for 15 years of chaos, decline, and lies.

On the other hand, why did it need a more horrible party to get there and not just common sense?

  25. Well, yeah.

Not to be overly blunt, but who do they think their audience is?

All the bigots have a better party to vote for in Reform, and everyone else has the common sense to never vote for them in the first place. Reform are eating your lunch. Maybe try coming up with actual policies and then find ways to demonstrate that you can execute on them like… At all? Maybe even a little one. Maybe one policy? Just at the local level? Nah? Well *fuck off then*.

  26. She can shout and schcweam and turn this around! Mention Corbyn! Tough on sandwiches!

  27. Who’d have thought ruining the country and blabbering on about bathrooms for years would have a negative affect

  28. Shocking? they’ve been plummeting in every poll for months.

Farage is better tories than tories and Farage is better tories than red tories.

  29. I get the opposition is there to hold government to account and provide criticism etc. But it also doesn’t mean you have to be contrarian about absolutely fucking everything.

That rabid psychopath Priti Patel is on the airwaves today screeching about this new deal selling us out and reversing Brexit etc. Like what the fuck does she want then? We have to make deals with them. We’re all so fucking bored and tired of Brexit. Even people that voted for Brexit are bored and want to move on. We’re all so fucking over it Priti. Change the fucking record seriously. Their endless pursuit for deals that only benefit the UK are the reason we never fucking got anything done. A deal requires compromise. No sane person expects the EU to just give us everything we want. Kemi said yesterday she was a better negotiator because she was ‘willing to walk away’. Well thank fuck you’re not in charge then Kemi because nobody wants a bunch of fucking whiney children threatening to throw their toys out the pram as our chief negotiator.

I don’t like this new Labour under Keir. It’s nowhere near progressive enough for me. But what I do like is they’re at least getting on with things. We’re seeing actual progress rather than another 14 years of stagnation and decline. It’s refreshing to have adults in the room again and not having to doomscroll all day long about what scandal or fuck up is happening now. I can just get on with things relatively worry free.

I hope the Tories fuck off and die as a party for good. It seems after all this time, the drubbings they’ve taken recently, they *still* don’t get that people are fucking sick of their same old shite.

  30. If you’ve got even a mild grip on politics in the UK there is nothing remotely shocking about this at all.

  31. Yes! This makes me so happy. The Tories are finished! Whoop whoop!

  32. When they chose Boris as leader many of us said that will be the ruination of the Conservative party. And sure enough. The man with the reverse midas touch struck again.

  33. People have outgrown FPTP it’s that simple we have played the Tory to Labour blame game for 100 years now with the odd coalition thrown in and people are fed up with it on all political spectrums, the left would rather have left wing parties and the right would rather have right wing parties.

PR will only get talked about seriously again once Reform have upset the current cozy system which isn’t ideal but so be it as this country needs to grow up and get real instead of hanging onto FPTP when it’s long as passed it’s sell by date in a modern democracy.

  34. David Camerons decision to have a referendum on EU membership to see off the threat of Nigel Farage might be the single worst decision of any PM in modern history.

  35. Good fucking riddance. They’ve brought this country to its knees.
