Moldova will be able to access the EU Cybersecurity Reserve, part of the Digital Europe Program. This will give Moldova access to a European rapid intervention mechanism in case of major cyber attacks. An agreement to this effect was signed in Brussels by the European Commission’s Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, Roberto Viola, and Moldovan Minister of Economic Development and Digitization, Doina Nistor, IPN reports.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the support includes specialized teams that will provide not only technical expertise, but also resources for crisis management: equipment and licenses. With this, the Republic of Moldova will strengthen its capacity to respond quickly and effectively to cyber threats.

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technology (CNECT), in a press release, states that the cyber-security pool is made up of trusted providers who can intervene in the event of a significant or large-scale cyber-security attack at the request of a Member State or EU institutions, agencies and bodies.

“The inclusion of Moldova reflects the deepening of its cooperation with the EU in the field of cybersecurity,” the act issued by the EGCC said.

In Brussels, the possibility of joining the “Roam like at Home” area by January 2026 was also discussed, which would allow Moldovan citizens to benefit from roaming tariffs similar to those in the European Union.
