What's this thing that has been placed on our ringing bell sign? Since yesterday someone put this black thing on top of our names on the bell button. Does someone have an idea what that might mean?

Btw we also had someone ringing late evening (10pm) and we didn't answer since we didn't know who it was.

  1. The ringing was from when someone put it there… and pressed it on. Must be a prank or harassment

  3. I’m gonna go on a whim and say that if someone rang late at night and no one answered, then someone placed the black strip to know whether the premises is vacant. If no one is there, or on holiday, then the label won’t be removed, but as soon as the homeowner notices it, they’ll likely remove it.

    It sounds similar to people putting zip ties and string on bicycles to find out if they’re being used or not.

    This is of course all an assumption. But very strange indeed.

  4. If that is your door bell, then remove it asap no questions asked. I cannot imagine any kind of official or whatever reason to do this. Like it would literally hinder any official business being conducted.
    I agree that it sounds like a set-up of some sort. And definitely not of the good kind

  5. Alright that’s what I was already thinking. I remove it asap and I already let the police know. They can’t really help for now but include our street in their patrols more frequently

  6. This gives me huge red flags.

    I notice someone putting red circles here, police told us that this must be some kind of marking for thieves.
    The whole neighbourhood discussed this issue and decided that everyone who noticed that dots or any kind of markings is allowed to remove them for everyone. Since then the markings stopped
