Average net (after employee tax) monthly earnings in the whole economy amounted to EUR 1,368 and, against 2023, increased by 9.5 percent: in the public sector, it amounted to EUR 1,470 (increased by 12.5 percent), in the private sector – EUR 1,328.2 (increased by 8.4 percent).

In 2024, against 2023, index of real earnings in the whole economy made up 108.7 percent: in the public sector – 111.7, in the private sector – 107.6 percent.

Over the year, average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy increased in all economic activities, from 1.7 percent (administrative and support service activities) to 16 percent (education).

Increase in earnings in 2024 was influenced by increased minimum monthly wage, increased minimum basic salary coefficients of employees of budgetary institutions, change in the procedure for the calculation of the tax-exempt amount of income, and other reasons.

In 2024, the average number of employees in the whole economy increased by 12 thousand.

In 2024, the average number of employees in the whole economy totalled 1 million 376.6 thousand: in the public sector – 367.1 thousand (26.7 percent of the total number of employees in the whole economy), in the private sector – 1 million 9 thousand (73.3 percent). Compared to 2023, the average number of employees in the whole economy increased by 12.3 thousand (0.9 percent): in the public sector – by 4.3 thousand (1.2 percent), in the private sector –by 8 thousand (0.8 percent).

The largest increase in the average number of employees – by 5.2 thousand (4.4 percent) – was recorded in health and social work activities, while decrease – in administrative and support service activities – by 2.1 thousand (2.8 percent).

In 2024, the number of part‑time employees totalled 228.2 thousand, or 16.6 percent of the total number of employees in the whole economy, and, compared to 2023, decreased by 5.3 thousand (2.3 percent).
