I found this at a yard sale in France, what is it (traditional knives?) and is it worth anything?

  1. Lapinleuku or just leuku. Traditional knife used mostly in Lappi area. Rover isn’t a brand I have heard of before, quick googling didn’t help. I don’t think that’s a Finnish brand, even if the knife is definitely Finnish style.

#1 and #3 obviously aren’t the same knife though.

  2. As it says on the blade, Iisakki Järvenpää ”Leuku” knife. Made in Kauhava, Finland. I have the same one. I’m not familiar with the Rover though.

Edit: current price as new at the moment is 142€/162€.

  3. > and is it worth anything

Yes, the sum you just paid for it 😉

  4. I think the Rover is Swedish. Google ”Vangedal Rover”.

  5. Looks like a puukko knife, you can use it for hunting purposes or whittling or whatever you use a small knife for. Also great for settling arguments. The value is anywhere from 10€ to 40€ most likely.

Edit: People more into knives say it’s a leuku – whatever that is. Still good for settling arguments.

  6. It’s a puukko. I don’t know much about puukkos, but they are very common. I (and many others) use it while camping to carve firewood or open a pack of sausage. Honestly don’t think it’s worth much and will be surprised if this particular one is some sort of collection piece.

  7. 1/2 is a small leuku, which is a smaller version of a traditional knife style from lapland. Usually they are bigger and traditionally meant for all around tool that does everything in traditional lapland setting. Because there are not big trees in lapland, it also replaces axe with smaller trees etc. This sort of smaller leuku might be good in some modern survalist etc setup where you dont need one tool to do everything in lapland setting. Its from known quality company.

3 looks like its trying to copy traditional ”puukko” knife style from Finland, but i doubt its from Finland.

  8. The third can be told apart from a Finnish puukko by the sheath. It’s not in Fi puukko style even though the knife itself looks quite similar to a Fi puukko.

Good find though, the leuku at least is a solid tool.

  9. Its a knife that hundreds of years ago when soldiers used to come back to their house, their wives would cut vegetables with it and make special dishes for them 🙌

  10. The Rover knife has symbol of the scouts (kings lily) and someplaces boyscouts used to be called Rovers.

  11. First picture looks a Lot like the Iisakki Järvenpää leuku I bought from Inari over 30 years ago.

  12. Possibly a sapmí made knife. They often use that style.
