  1. >George Wendt, an American actor and comedian who earned six consecutive Emmy nominations for his performance as Norm Peterson on the beloved NBC comedy series “Cheers,” died Tuesday morning at his home. He was 76.

    >Wendt’s death was confirmed by his publicist Melissa Nathan with the following statement: “George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him. He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time.”

  2. As soon as he steps through the pearly gates : everyone in heaven all in unison “NORM”

  3. Dang, I always wanted to eat beans with George Wendt.

  4. Hey, what’s up Norm.

My nipples. It’s freezing out there.

I grew up on Cheers and it’s one of the few old shows that’s actually held up somewhat.

  5. How’s life treating ya Norm

Like a baby treats a diaper

  6. Dude was 33 (about to be 34) when Cheers premiered. Wow. I wouldn’t have guessed that.

  7. He’s not a huge part of it but MY BODYGUARD is worth checking out for how it’s filthy with Chicago stage actors of the day.

  8. Can’t believe he was only 76…..thought he was much older

  9. Gonna have to head into town and hit up Bull and Finch and have a pint.

  10. Every post in these threads should have been ‘Bye Norm’, but humans is dumb.

  11. If there’s an afterlife, a whole bunch of people just looked up and shouted ‘Norm!’

  12. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Wendt! Fair wind and following seas….🍺 Every barfly is thinking of you.

  13. NORM!

Rest in peace, Mr. Wendt. Thank you for the laughs.

  14. Pour out two-tree Old Styles for Bob Swerski.

Bear down with Papa Bear, Pat…

    DAAAA BEARS

  15. George Wendt is the reason my dad lost a ton of weight. There was some function he was at with my father and people were complaining it was too cold cause the windows were open. My dad said it was perfectly fine temperature and George turns to him and say yea for a couple of fat guys like us. My dad was a superstar athlete in his youth, he had definitely gained a ton of weight since then but still somehow saw himself as not fat, but being called fat by a person who was well known as a fat guy hit him hard. Next thing I know he goes out running every day and starts eating better, he probably lost 100+ lbs. My wife sees old photos of him and cannot believe he was ever that big. So thanks George!

  16. Given that he wasn’t exactly the epitome of health on the show, I’m happy he lived as long as he did.

  17. Oh shit, I was just looking at the cast of Man of the House yesterday and was glad George Wendt was still alive, yikes

  18. My favorite cold opening:
“Norm!!!!!! Mr. Peterson, what would you say to a cold beer? Ah…… going down!!”

  19. Wow, honestly this is way longer than I would’ve guessed. Bravo
