NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has pulled federal funding, effectively shutting down Nashville’s Eviction Protection Program (EPP).
The EPP was part of the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and is set to end on June 30, according to a meeting of the Metro Council Budget & Finance Committee on Monday.
The committee is urging families to reach out in order to receive help before it shuts down next month. It also passed a resolution to keep funding the eviction protection services through June’s end.
Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.
The purpose of EPP was to help prevent evictions for eligible Nashvillians and keep households that rent from becoming unhoused.
In 2025, about $2 million in ERA funding was received by the Metro Action Commission. The commission has requested another $350,000 to help families. Another $220,000 grant will be processed in the coming weeks.
