An interesting read. It’s not a series I’ve seen or would be interested in, but I did wonder how they were dealing with a diverse cast in a period drama.
It’s rather a bizarre choice to get worked up about getting small cultural details right, while ignoring the giant colonial elephant in the room.
I thought Bridgerton was colour blind casting, I didn’t realise they were acknowledging their culture but pretending racism and colonialism didn’t exist.
It’s just an alternate history period porn off for horny Downton Abbey addicts. There’s no need to analyse it any further than that.
That is actually in the BBC’s news section? That’s a culture piece / magazine opinion at best, and barely that. But news?! Bloody hell they’ve really dropped off a cliff haven’t they.
