> Rubio betrayed what seems to be the Trump administration’s actual beliefs about the U.S. government: that the presidency is more like an absolute monarchy that isn’t subject to congressional or judicial oversight.
MAGA is working very hard to get rid of the “checks and balances” part of the Constitution.
They’ve already proven that there is no way for the Judicial to enforce rulings against the Executive and have shown us that they can ignore the Supreme Court with no fear of consequences.
Dude has no right to immunity. Praying for a day the tables turn
You can’t tell me when to go to bed! I’m a big boy! I get to stay up late!
Time passes & the horrors continue
Rubio?
Name doesn’t sound quite white.
Too bad American politicians are such cowards they won’t hold traitors responsible for their treason.
Let’s dispel this fiction that Judges have no authority over Rubio and the Trump administration. They know exactly that the courts have authority over them.
I think he’s conflating “exercising foreign policy” with exercising due process.
I don’t suppose anyone is going to do anything about this?
An unchecked executive branch is just an authoritarian state. Fuck off lil Marco
The Rubio confirmation was 99-0. Who the hell were Dems think he was?
The GOP is showing the entire world, on a daily basis, that it can act with impunity — and the judiciary will just shrug.
I can’t tell if he’s swallowed the Kool-Aid entirely or is making plays at taking the mantle when Trump croaks. He’s the most intelligent of Trumps toadies. He can campaign on saying he has basic common sense as well as having been selected by Trump.
Little Marco thinks he special….What a dummy. You aren’t rich or or white enough to play the a Trump Tax game.
Once a pipsqueak always a pipsqueak
Every single one of these cretins claiming immunity for their illegal acts need to rot in jail
I remember fondly just 5 months ago when people were claiming he was the most reasonable of the Trump minions and was at least somewhat qualified for his job. I’m not shocked to see he’s no different from the rest of them.
Can’t wait for his trial.
“The evidence will be clear in the days to come.”
So confession that there was no evidence at time of arrest?
This is supposed to be the safe one
Even though I lean left, I used to respect this guy as I also lived in Florida. Marco Rubio was one of the key members of the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” in the U.S. Senate, not the “Gang of Five,” as it’s sometimes mistakenly called. This group came together in 2013 to craft and promote a comprehensive immigration reform bill. The legislation aimed to tighten border security, overhaul the legal immigration system, implement a mandatory employment verification system, and create a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Rubio, then a rising Republican star and considered a bridge between the conservative base and more moderate voices, played a prominent role in promoting the bill, frequently defending it on conservative media platforms.
The bill successfully passed the Senate with a strong bipartisan vote of 68-32, but it ultimately failed in the House of Representatives. House Republican leaders, facing intense pressure from Donald J. Trump, declined to bring the bill to a vote, largely due to opposition to the pathway to citizenship, which Trump labeled as “amnesty.” The political fallout for Rubio was significant. While his involvement in the Gang of Eight initially boosted his national profile, the backlash from conservatives and Tea Party members damaged his standing among the GOP base. In response, Rubio gradually distanced himself from the legislation, especially as he prepared for his 2016 presidential campaign.
He IS subject to the laws of the United States and took an oath to that very effect. I used to respect this man. He demonstrated compassion and empathy for immigration. Anyone who follows the guy on social media know he posts Bible scriptures. Perhaps he can come back to God and do the right thing.
He knows better…
So how many times do these fascist clowns have to say “im a dictator, i will break all of the rules” before people finally believe them?
Any Judge wants to deputize Seal Team Six as Federal Marshalls and make Rubio a liar, needs to asap
He knows to his core how wrong everything he’s doing is. He knows exactly how harmful, how contrary to American values, how undemocratic and unconstitutional.
And yet he does it anyway.
Why?
What does someone have on the guy – or what is he hoping to accomplish?
How does he sleep at night?
Why is he wearing so much bronzer?
This timeline fucking sucks. These people are pure evil to their core. They have no souls
Reddit’s owners don’t like it when redditors cite the Constitutional remedy for this type of tyrannical government.
Rupert Murdoch and the Citizens United ruling destroyed this country from the inside like a cancer in roughly 25 years. Everything can be traced back to one of those.
This is far from rock bottom and I’m terrified of what’s to come over the next 25 years.
He used to be a serious republican candidate but now he’s a trump fluffer.
It’s pretty amazing how people grow into their supposed power. This Rubio was a little pissant senator from Florida and now he imagines himself untouchable because he sucks Trumps dick.
Crazy how Marco Rubio’s parents fled a dictator in Cuba, only for their son to support one in America.
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain. – Harvey Dent.
Little Marco had a taste of power
Dumb fuck supreme court really thought they could reel Trump in and stay on top.
So much for the oath he took to defend the constitution. I think someone needs to go to these hearings with a mirror and ask these traitors to repeat their oath and when they get to the part about defending the constitution against all enemies foriegn and domestic hold up the mirror and point out that they are the domestic enemies of the constitution.
Listen, until the courts *actually enforce* their orders – he’s right. That’s the sad truth. Legally he’s absolutely wrong, but if nobody is going to enforce our laws or court orders, then he’s right.
If a Democrat ever did this as president, the Democracts would impeach and convict them. Republicans have no loyalty or integrity.
> Rubio also declared that he did not believe in the Constitution’s separation of powers, in which the three branches exist together in a system of checks and balances.
Unconstitutionalist Marco Rubio, must declare this oath:
“*I, Marco Rubio, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.*”
… Despite not believing in the Constitution or the constitutional principles under which our nation was forged.
By saying that he does not “believe” in the Constitution’s separation of powers, he is declaring that he does not support the Constitution and does not believe in the Rule of Law.
Apparently, he only believes in Rule.
So, that oath then is essentially a declaration that he also does not believe in integrity.
These are the people that Republicans vote for.
With quality like that, how can we help but *NOT* have a government rife with corruption and tyranny.
Nice job MAGA voters. You are destroying your own liberties. You are destroying your children’s future. Each of you that has voted for Donald Trump, and now, Marco Rubio, is an accessory to the attempted destruction of US democracy.
And that attempt may actually succeed.
Nice job fools.
