Dear Polish friends, greetings from Romania.
Last Sunday, the 18th, a pro-EU candidate will be the next President of Romania, in opposition to the other candidate, with a more pro-Russia approach.
Do you think that there is a chance that the pro western candidate Rafal Trzaskowski could lose the elections?
I think the Polish elections, as Romanian too, are crucial for the stability of the region.
I have attached a map for a more visual context. Thank you.

  1. But Nawrocki isn’t pro-Russian. Say what you want about Law and Justice, but they aren’t pro-Russian.

And yeah, Trzaskowski will most likely lose.

  2. Trzaskowski will 90% lose imo

though, nawrocki isn’t really pro russia, his de-facto leader hates russia as he accuses them of killing his brother in smolensk disaster (on top of many other important polish officials)

nawrocki is eurosceptic, that is, wants to benefit from EU but doesn’t want EU to have any say on what goes on in poland.

  3. We have problem because we don’t know how many people will vote for Trzaskowski. Nawrocki (idiot) might mobilize thier „devotees” with brains washed brains.

  4. Both Nawrocki and Trzaskowski are pro-western, but on different conditions.

  5. There was only one pro-russian candidate Maciej Maciak. In Poland being pro-rusian is basically public suicide

  6. Nawrocki is a candidate from PiS party, that helped ukraine from day 1 and gave more help during its rule 2015-2023

  7. But Nawrocki is not Pro Russian. Trzaskowski is very pro EU, Nawrocki is very pro US.

I will say more, the party that’s behind Nawrocki is pathologically Russophobic. I mean that stance has been vindicated since 2014 but regardless of that, I don’t think they would cooparete with Russia even if it was good for us.

  8. Nawrocki’s concerning relations with members of criminal underworld disqualify him – regardless his political views.

He abused his position in return for material profits and swindled a property from municipal resources.

Is is a choice between a dull candidate (Trzaskowski) and absolute disgrace.

From perspective of international relations and ongoing conflict with Russia, Nawrocki is definitely worse option.

    1. Conflict with current government what may affect government initiatives.

    2. Low experience in foreign policy (not only Nawrocki’s but also his potential advisors and cabinet).

    3. Certain conflict with our European (more strategic partners).

    4. Not-assertive stance towards Trump’s chaotic administration.

  9. I think neither of the candidates is pro-Russia. The bigger issue is that if Trzaskowski doesn’t win, the ruling coalition will be hijacked for the rest of their term. Current opposition president is vetoing bills left and right and stopping any real change that would see the previous government investigated for whatever shit they did while in office.

Let me be clear, I’m not particularly happy about the ruling coalition. But I want them to at least have the chance to make the changes they are planning.

  10. President in Poland only can blocks acts from the parliament (like the current president) and freezes the goverment. Nothing more.

The most neccesary election will be in next 2 years.

  11. Please stop with this panicking posts from Romania. Nawrocki will be a next clone of Duda. Less or more patriotic speeches, hitting some minorities from time to time. No Russia involvement, just sucking USA and ultra sucking when republicans are ruling.

  12. What exactly does the map represent? Red is anti-EU? Then shouldn’t Belarus be red?

  13. PiS is anti-russia, they believe that Lech Kaczyński was murdered by Russians in 2010

  14. There is NO pro Russia candidates in the election as of now. The only one who was pro Russia lost, and a lot of people dislike him.

  15. People voting for right are not pro russian. They just don’t like the direction the EU is going. More and more taxes, less freedoms, expensive houses, uncontrolled immigration.

  16. The fuck are you on about, stop shoving your politics into our election.

  17. All pro-russian candidates are gone and lost in first round. We have two anti-russia in the 2nd. However, Trzaskowski is unpredictable, he showed that he can change opinion like a girl changing clothes. From this two candidates only Nawrocki is secure to be always anit-russia, as he is from PiS – remember that one of their fundator was lost in an accident involving russia so they hate russia with passion.

It is quite surprising how many so called anti-russia users come here to ask for voting Trzaskowski, like it is organized action? Maybe someone knows that it will be easier to manipulate this highly unstable candidate?

  18. Nawrocki is a russophobe in a positive way, he is pro-nato and pro-American while Rafał Trzaskowski is more pro-EU. Truly pro-russian Maciak got less than 1% of votes.

  19. nawrocki will almost certainly win, and if nawrocki wins, then pis will 100% win the next elections

nawrocki and pis aren’t really pro-western and are definitely not pro-russian, they’re just pro-themselves and pro-kissing america’s ass. pis hates the european union and constantly makes it out to be poland’s greatest enemy, though they wouldnt go as far as braun as to call for poland’s exit of the union, they like the money too much

  20. It does not support the dismantling of EU – it just doesn’t want a federalised Europe.

Which Russian allies has it cooperated with?

Who hasn’t cozied up to china. The west created the china we know today by having everything made in china.

What Russian misinformation have they propagated?

They do not support an authoritarian system… they got voted out, and that was that. Their judicial reforms such as the KT crisis were created by PO when Komorowski appointed new judges before leaving office. their media control was wrong, but PO/KO have done the same thing by taking over TVP.

Neither PiS or KO are worth leading Poland in my opinion. But this idea that KO are good and PiS are bad is so stupid.

  21. Nawrocki is not pro russia. That’s stupid take. He’s not the biggest fan of EU, more like USA.

  22. Trzaskowski will lose, it’s almost certain.

There is no pro-Russian candidate, though. Trzaskowski is pro-EU defense and federation. Nawrocki is pro-US cooperation, but not pro-Russia.

Nawrocki is on Russia’s international wanted list for taking down USSR-era communist statues. His de facto party leader, Kaczyński, accuses Putin of murdering his brother, our 2005-2010 President.

They will not be easy to cooperate with in the EU, that’s for sure. But they would sooner die than cooperate with Russia.

  23. The Polish president has very limited powers, and both who made it to the second round are backed by parties with strong anti-Russian sentiments. This is more a question of whether the current parliamentary coalition will face a friendly (to them) president, or Mr Roadblock.

  24. Okay what is this bullshit? about PIS and their candidate you can say a lot of things, for example, that they are anti-lgbt, that they are a bunch of thieves, that they are too close to the church, that their foreign policy is idiotic, but that they are pro-Russian is exactly what you can’t say, because it’s nonsense, Kaczyński would sooner start making out with Tusk than be pro-Russian

  25. Just wondering, I don’t know much about politics, but is being EU-sceptic and conservative equal to being pro-Russian? I got the feeling that almost every political party in Europe that is EU-sceptic and conservative is being labeled as ‘Pro-Russian’ now….

  26. Let me be rephrase, a lot of people got heatead up. I have never said that the opponent of Rafal Trzaskowski would be pro-Russian.
So, the question now is: could Rafal Trzaskowski lose this election, and what would this mean for Poland in general and in regard to the EU?

  27. Nawrocki is many things, one amongst them a criminal, but I have not seen much indication that he or PiS in general are pro-Russia. Yes, nowadays the right is flirting with being pro-Russia more and more, which we see moreso in Grzegorz Braun (6%) and the filthy muscovite agent Maciej Maciak (0,2%). Many things could happen within PiS, but the main thing is they’re not there. Poland is, thank God, in no danger of a Russian allied government, but your worries come from a very healthy place and are appreciated.

I was pleased to hear about Nicusor Dan’s victory and I’m very glad to hear that our brothers in Romania show interest in Poland, but the presidential election is moreso about domestic issues (as polish politics seem to be in general), nothing to worry about.

  28. I wouldn’t worry about this election, I’d worry about the election that’s coming up in 5 years and for all sorts of local authorities will be even sooner. It is inevitable that tender european voters will vote for any who will promise them appeasement of the aggressor and good relations with putin. Especially when the US is led by a clown, who won’t protect EU allies.

  29. Luckily, being pro-Russia isn’t really a viable political position in Poland. You would lose decisively the moment you publicly supported anything Russian.

In my (admittedly biased) opinion, PiS is more aligned with Russian interests in that they are euroskeptic and aligned with pro-Russian parties in Europe (like Fidesz in Hungary). But it is not like they would reverse Polish support for Ukraine or anything.

  30. Making friendship with Russia is political suicide in Poland, 2022 just reminded everyone about that.

  31. It is an EU integration vs Transatlantic cooperation choice in Polish international politics, my dear Romanian friend. Your’s map is just stupid, there is no question mark in the matter of Russia. Both candidates compete in disagreeing with Putin’s regime and conservative Nawrocki is on the lead in hating current Russia for sure.

  32. Pro russia candidate got 0.1% votes, and was destroyed everywhere.

  33. Nawrocki will probably win.

They are both pro EU and against Russia. Trzaskowski is just more agreeable towards EU and Nawrocki more standoffish. So it only makes sense that media is heavily biased towards Trzaskowski.

Whether Nawrocki can negotiate fair deals is up to debate. Neither has the cards just like all every eastern europe country. Weak, divided and Shadow of Moscow darkens.

  34. Yeah there are only two options. You’re either pro-EU or pro-RUS there’s NOTHING in between. As we know the political sides are divided between the good ones and the bad ones 😊

  35. The problem with Nawrocki is that his party is anti EU and supports petty autocrats like Orban which favours Russia, even if they don’t directly support them. If Nawrocki gets elected he will also do his best to stall any reforms by the government to make them look bad, thus indirectly supporting Russia. Also don’t rule out pis forming a coalition with the konfed goons if it will get them into power.

  36. Actually this is a double problem.

    1. Nawrocki and Trzaskowski are both NATO supporters, with one leaning towards western european focus, and the other in full american focus. There was only one candidate who was pro russian and he was rightfully quickly shunned upon, gathered 0,19% of votes.

    2. The map you show is misleading. If you would like to make such depiction of european oroentations you should use shading or circles representing election results in each country.
Left in Poland is often considered right in UK for example. Its not always easy to classify” 0 or 1″ because in some countries there is pro lgbt party with free market ideals, while in the other its pro lgbt and socialist.

  37. Nawrocki may not be pro Russia, but is exactly the type of man Russia wants – one that would destabilise our relations with the EU. He is also a thief, and a good pal of a few gangsters, skinheads and football hooligans. I’m not a fan of Trzaskowski, btw.
