    Several NGOs have been fined by the National Electoral Commission (NVB) on Friday for inciting an invalid vote in a child protection referendum, the MTI writes (hopefully it won’t be wrong to describe an invalid referendum phrase).

    According to the NVB, the referendum campaign should not be aimed at inciting an invalid vote, “because it not only tears apart but also breaks through the constitutional goal of direct exercise of power and the legislative will behind it”. According to the board inciting an invalid vote is therefore an abusive exercise.

    On this basis, the NVB found that the following organizations had violated the principle of good faith and proper administration of justice by inciting an invalid vote in the referendum:

    * Amnesty International Hungary,
    * the Artemission Foundation,
    * the Rainbow Mission Foundation,
    * the Background Company,
    * the Labrisz Lesbian Association,
    * the Hungarian Asexual Community,
    * the Hungarian Helsinki Committee,
    * Atlas Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Queer Sports Association,
    * the Association of Opponents of the Patents of the PATENT Patriarchate,
    * the noar is us! Nonprofit Kft.,
    * the Prizma Transgender Community,
    * the Symposium Association,
    * the Foundation for Rainbow Families,
    * the Society for Freedoms and
    * the Transvanilla Transgender Association.

    The NVB ordered the violators to pay a fine of HUF 176,400 each. The NVB advised Amnesty International Hungary on the same objection he was obliged to pay an additional HUF 3 million in fines.

    The decisions of the NVB are not final, they can be appealed to the Curia within three days.
