  1. Mmmm… More fascism. Yay.

At least eggs are… Wait, no, eggs are still expensive.

  2. Media, once again, bending out of pure spinelessness. Fuck The View and ABC.

  3. What is there to bash…if you just say what is happening that is not bashing.

  4. proof that the corporate media was controlling your attention and helping republicans / Trump get elected.

  5. The German SA had this in the 1930’s. Not an original thought in MAGA’s brain.

  6. They aren’t bowing down to the networks and Trump

    > Ultimately, the women found the requests “silly” and that “they were just going to keep doing their thing.”

  7. FFS, all these cowards dragging America closer and closer to becoming an authoritarian state, and for what … fear of being targeted by a tyrant … the shame is, that cowardice is fuel to a wannabe dictator.

  8. The descent into fascism continues with the fed strong-arming any and all media into not reporting on the fear that American citizens are feeling.

  9. Disney and ABC News have asked the hosts of The View to tone down their political rhetoric, multiple sources told the Daily Beast.

Since Donald Trump’s election in 2024, The View‘s panel of co-hosts—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin—have consistently criticized Trump administration officials and policies.

But its constant focus on Trump and politics seems to have roiled the network’s top bosses, including Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic.

Ultimately, the women found the requests “silly” and that “they were just going to keep doing their thing.”

  10. Why don’t they say “Or What?” “What are you going to do to us that won’t blow all over you?” “How ’bout you stay in your lane why we read the room!”

  11. I bet FoxNews never tells their talking heads to tone down their grovelling supplication.

  12. I posted this elsewhere, but I’m not joking when I say **the freedom of our press is under attack.**

    Here’s my copypasta:

[John Oliver’s piece Sunday](https://youtu.be/07JQr5W3970) was about Trump and the press. I finally understood why the whole 60 Minutes thing was such a big deal.

Basically, media companies are taking the proverbial knee so their local stations’ licenses don’t get revoked/canceled. Trump’s FCC guy – Brendan Carr – is basically doing whatever Trump wants him to do instead of being in charge of an independent agency.

The 60 Minutes hoopla? Trump saw an edited bit of Harris’ interview from October 2024, but when the show aired, Harris’ answer was different. Trump said the program engaged in “news distortion” (pot meet kettle?). But what happened is Harris’ answer was both clips – the lead-in was the first part of her answer, and the aired answer was the second part of her answer. Ultimately, both clips together were her full response.

While Trump sued 60 Minutes for **$20 BILLION**, FCC Chairman Carr started giving interviews stating that the FCC will investigate if these broadcast companies to ensure there’s no “news distortion”, which is following Trump’s lead. While networks aren’t tied to FCC licenses, their local stations are.

(An aside: all FCC complaints against the major networks from pro-Trump groups were thrown out in January by the previous FCC chairwoman. When she resigned and Carr was placed, he reinstated all of the complaints – except for the one against Fox News – within 2 days of Trump being sworn in.)

Back to CBS. CBS’ parent company, Paramount, is currently working through a merger with Skydance Media. Since Trump wants the FCC to put a boot to the throat to CBS, Paramount is “playing nice” to ensure their merger goes through. Paramount’s board is telling CBS to toe the line. CBS in turn requested Bill Owens (former editor of 60 Minutes) to submit any Trump pieces for the rest of the year (murky on the timeframe here). Because of this, Owens resigned in April.

I’ve seen a few articles floating around the last couple of days on whether settling Trump’s lawsuit could be seen as a bribe. We’ll see how that plays out.

This comment is hella long, and I truly apologize. But if our local stations start having their licenses revoked and their parent networks don’t fight for them, we are in a world of shit.

**We are literally fighting for freedom of the press to continue to be a constitutional right.**

  13. One of the key roles of the media is to disclose information to the public, serving as a check on the government—not to serve as a mouthpiece flattering politicians.

  14. I see so FOX can beat up on Biden and Obama daily with nothing but bias opinion, but thats ok since Murdoch is Trumps bitch, but these ladies (who I cant stand but thats another matter) are supposed to play nice with the orange clown, did I get that right?

  15. The real deep state is the one you’re not allowed to criticize…

  16. “Himmler tells La Resistance to tone down its ant-Hitler activities.”

  17. We always knew corporations would never do the right thing when faced with a moment like this. They’ll easily bend the knee to authoritarianism.

  18. Yeah, this is totally what normal presidents do in normal times of normalcy.

  19. That’s when you know you have an ethical responsibility to hate on Trump even harder.
