Manchester Airport boss warns queues could continue for weeks

  1. It would help if people were ready when they got to security.

A friend went through Manchester yesterday, and said that the queues weren’t helped by the number of people faffing around when they got to their turn at security rather than being prepared first, and others having to be stopped because they’d left electronics, make-up, drinks etc in their bags.

Not to say Manchester haven’t messed this up by being under-prepared, but some passengers really don’t help the situation.

  2. Andy Burnham not there helping yet? Since he volunteered cops to do the work that’s got nothing to do with them (why not volunteer teachers, hairdressers, computer programmers etc).

  3. Surprising what happens when you let all your staff go and then don’t replace them as travel opens up again…

Manchester’s been a painful airport to fly from for years though (as someone who lives nearby) in fairness.

  4. Flew into Heathrow a couple of days ago, and we were stuck on the tarmac for nearly an hour because no one was around to move the ramp to let us off the plane.

In other news, EasyJet and BA jacked their prices up 10x (I’m not kidding) to avoid people booking specific routes. I know this because I booked my flight back to the UK from Switzerland, and my partner went to book a couple of days later and all the prices for the next two weeks were set to 575Chf!!! It is insane. He phoned BA who said they did this deliberately to get people to not book because they are going to be cancelling loads of flights. I imagine it’s a similar situation for EasyJet, and in response to the rocketting prices, Swiss went and pushed their prices up too.
