  1. Is this in germany? (Yes, seems the river Saar is metioned.

    First few sentences are

    “Denckmahl

    dem

    unglücklichem gutem MOTTEL.

Er ertrank am 16. Mai 1810 … in der Saar

    sein Alter ist 18 Jahr

    Er war ein guter …

    Sanft ruh …. ”

It seems that the person a) could barely write or b) had dyslexia.

Further seems MOTTEL was an 18 year old boy that drowned in the river Saar in 16. May 1810

RIP MOTTEL, it seems he was a good fellow.

    EDIT:

He was a good fellow. Read the story. He died to safe a little girl.

  2. “Denckmahl dem unglücklichen guten Mottel

Er ertrank D 16 Mai 1810 bei Sarbrüken in der Saar

    Seines Alters 18 Jahr

    Er war ein guter Mensch

    Sanft ruhe Seine Asche.”

    English:

“Memorial for the unlucky good Mottel

He drowned on may 16th 1810 near Saarbrücken in the Saar river

    His age [was] 18 years

    He was a good person

    May his ashes rest gently.”

  3. Denkmahl dem unglücklichen guten Mottel. Er ertrank d. 16. Mai 1810 bei Saarbrücken in der Saar, seines Alters 18 Jahr. Er war ein guter ???Freund??
    Sanft ruhe seine Seele.

Lot’s of moss and hard to read. Basically there was a 18 year old guy called Mottel who drowned in the Saar (a river) near Saarbrücken may 16 1810. That was before Germany had a big change in spelling (that was around 1900 or 1910 if I remember right, they unified the spelling of most words back then, before then you could basically spell words like you deemed correct) so it’s spelled in an old way  (It’s not spelled wrong you just wouldn’t spell it like that in modern german).

PS: next time try to scrape off the moss and put some water on the stone, it’s easier to read 😉
