EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Just as you take your car for an oil change, El Paso Electric said it is doing maintenance and prepping to meet the energy demand during the summer months.
Ronnie Lewis, West Side Operations Manager for EP Electric, highlighted the role of distribution in preparing for the summer. “Starting in February, we have a maintenance plan,” Lewis said. “That’s when we concentrate all of our distribution resources on replacing, repair, and basically doing what we need to do to get our system ready for the hot season.”

Lewis noted the importance of pre-maintenance to handle the peak usage during summer. “It helps us with load. We have our engineers that go in and check load changes,” he said.
Lewis is also encouraging customers to use smart meters and apps to monitor and manage their energy usage.
EP Electric stated that it is constantly updating a 10-year outlook plan to keep up with the growth of El Paso.
