Hey everyone! Me and some friends are going fishing to Norway (Narvik, ofotsjford) for a week in mid August. Now im already really excited so i started looking at maps already ;). The red dot is where we will be living eith our 20hp fishing boat (2km~6min. The blue arrows are spots that i feel like could be good for fishing bigger fish, because of the steep dropoffs. But im also wondering where to look for baitfish and other good spots for bigger fish (pollack, leng, halibut, cod…). However im pretty inexperienced so im open to all sorts of input and helpfull tipps!

  1. So are you mainly focusing on fishing with bait (leng, lumb, etc) or fishing with artificial bait (cod, etc.)?

  2. Make sure you have a boat with echo and make sure you know how to read it (most important skill from my experience).

  3. Cod and saithe are supereasy to get. It is just to go out and fish for a a few minutes. Halibut is difficult, don’t expect to get one. They are normaly in the deepest holes.

  4. This is my town. If you are boat fishing then anywhere between 60g or 120g lures (if the tide and wind aren’t playing ball). Stop into sports outlet to get some cheap lures and some mackerel feathers and head into Skjomen which is under the bridge to the right of where you’re staying. Right underneath the bridge, is known to have halibut, cod, sei. Keep an eye out for seagul activity or “boiling” water.

    Enjoy
