  1. Although I understand and agree with the sentiment, how does he propose we do this?

History has shown time and again that you cannot repress such groups. Are they a VZW that you can disband? No. Are you going to arrest or deport leaders? But others will take their place. Ideas flow freely on the internet, so should we start censoring things? That doesn’t work anywhere, people find a way. On top of that, repressive measures are worn as a badge of pride and can cause even more people to join.

You cannot combat the ideology, you can only provide an alternative ideology which makes people immune to this type of movement. Unfortunately, this would mean that our country needs to tell and live a narrative which tells the young people drawn to MB and their likes: hey, we got your back. This is your home. We will take care of you. You are one of us.

“Unfortunately”, because as you are all aware, as a society in general, and also in our mainstream media, all we do is demonise these people. While we tell them they are “crapuul” and worthless and dangerous and terrorists etc., what does MB tell them? You’re one of the good ones! You’re with us. Fuck them, they hate you, or at least don’t like you. They don’t even accept you. So come join us.

As simple as this sounds, that formula actually works on young and vulnerable people, especially if they are still trying to find an identity or in-group to latch on to.

So, disband? Good luck with that. That’s just political posturing like the war on drugs. You want a real solution? Embrace them, so that they do not fall into the arms of those that threaten our national unity and more.

  2. Okay I’m tired of this invisible political phantom called “islamism” being pushed around by certain political circles. If anyone is interested in historical precedents: it is the 21st century version of [“Jewish Bolshevism”](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Bolshevism). Back then, the plot was that Jews were steering a “secret” plot in cooperation with communists to destroy Western civilization from within, after having succeeded to overthrow the Tsar and install a communist dictatorship in the Soviet Union. Now, it is an “islamist bogeyman” out to “destroy” Western Civilization from within.

This “islamist bogeyman” has been most actively spread by the UAE, in order to justify their absolute monarchism, crush any form of dissent under the guise of “fighting islamism” and prevent democratic reforms in the Middle East from taking place, while promoting the myth of “authoritarian stability”. Especially since the Arab spring of 2011, the UAE has stepped up efforts to portray anyone that opposses its political agenda as an “islamist” and “extremist”. If anyone is interested, there is a fantastic paper of Georgetown University called [***Middle East Autocrats, Islamophobia, and “Reverse Orientalism”***](https://bridge.georgetown.edu/research/middle-east-autocrats-islamophobia-and-reverse-orientalism/)***,*** which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to understand UAE’s “counterrevolutionary” doctrine and the spread of the “islamist bogeyman”.

The UAE goes great lenghts to expand its influence and build legitimacy, mainly by allying themselves with the Western far right. UAE for example was caught in 2023 in a huge [smear campaign scandal](https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/belgium-summons-uae-ambassador-muslim-brotherhood-smear-campaign), that targeted European muslims who the UAE perceived as “unfriendly”. They paid a Swiss private intelligence company called, “Alp Services”, between €20 000 – €50 000 per individual targeted. [Eight organisations and 160 individuals located in Belgium were targeted, ](https://www.lesoir.be/524145/article/2023-07-07/abou-dhabi-secrets-160-belges-jetes-en-pature-aux-services-secrets-emiratis)including former co-chair and federal minister for environment and sustainability, Zakia Khattabi.

Fouad Gandoul, a Belgian political scientist, was also falsely linked to the muslim brotherhood as part of the smear campaign.

UAE has at the same time invested massive amounts of money by propping up brutal state and non-state actors across the MENA region, some examples:

    1) the Sudanese government has taken the [UAE to the International Court ](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3w1nzpg5dgo)of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague over “complicity in genocide”, as the UAE is propping up the Rapid Support Forces, who have committed horrific war crimes in the Sudanese Civil War.

    2) UAE has been propping up [General Haftar for years in Libya,](https://www.newarab.com/analysis/haftar-and-hemedti-two-sides-same-coin) whose authoritarian style of ruling is no different from the previous Khaddafi regime

    3) UAE support [was crucial in the Egyptian coup d’état o](https://www.newarab.com/analysis/uae-funded-egyptian-anti-morsi-group-leaked-conversation-suggests)f 2013 and the brutal crackdown that followed.

I don’t have a problem on cracking down on extremist elements in the islamic community, but the “islamist bogeyman” needs to die. Under the guise of this bogeyman, any muslim who dares to raise its voice publically about perceived injustices, will be labelled an “islamist” or “affiliated to the muslim brotherhood” without any credible evidence. And as a democratic society, we should stay as far away from the UAE model as possible.

  3. Welke cohesie?

Fucking waste of tax payer money.

  4. The state should just be more secular and vocal in enforcing certain rights (gay marriage, abortion, equality of male and female).

Religion is a hobby that belongs in the private sphere, high time we introduce a religion tax like in Germany and separate the church and state far more than we do now.

  5. Ik had een Syrische dakwerker die mij heel de tijd broeder noemde, is hij ook zo één?

  6. Juist. Helemaal klaar met die mafkezen die de Europese samenlevingen willen Islamiseren
