Expect an early closure of Oakridge-41st Avenue Station on SkyTrain’s Canada Line late this spring and into the summer to enable a major phase of the construction work to expand and improve the public transit hub.
TransLink announced today that Oakridge-41st Avenue Station will close about two hours earlier than usual from Sunday to Thursday nights (excluding Fridays and Saturdays) over seven weeks on two separate periods.
The station will close early at 11 p.m. between Sunday, June 18 and Thursday, June 12, 2025, and between Wednesday, July 2 and Wednesday, August 6, 2025 (excluding Sunday, August 3).
Passengers who need to reach the station after the early closure should expect up to 20 minutes of additional travel time by using the No. 15 Cambie/Olympic Village Station bus and the N15 NightBus to travel between King Edward Station and Langara 49th-Avenue Station.
An early end to train service at this station will enable the station’s street entrance to be fully closed, allowing crews to install steel structural columns and large wooden beams to support the new canopy and roof.
The upgrades to Oakridge-41st Avenue Station are almost entirely privately funded by the Oakridge Park mall project.

The 2009-built original street entrance roof for the station has been removed to enable the installation of a much larger canopy structure for better weather protection and to accommodate two new additional escalators between street level and the ticketing concourse to improve capacity and accessibility. In the process, the elevator from the street level is also being relocated.
As well, the ticketing concourse level is being significantly expanded, which will enable the construction of a new secondary station entrance accessible from a new underground corridor to the indoor mall.
All of these station upgrades are expected to reach completion by the end of 2025. Construction on these improvements first began in September 2024.
This is the most significant upgrade to a Canada Line station yet.

Construction is also progressing on the first phase of Oakridge Park, entailing a new major indoor mall, a nine-acre public park on the mall’s rooftop, a 100,000 sq. ft. public community centre with Vancouver Public Library’s second largest branch, and the complex’s first mixed-use residential towers, including a social housing tower that will be owned by the municipal government upon completion.
It remains to be seen when the new indoor mall and park will open, with visual progress suggesting an opening in late summer or the fall at the earliest. Over 50 retailers and food and beverage businesses have already been publicly confirmed, including a wider range of prominent mid-tier and luxury retail brands, and anchor retailers such as Sporting Life, the return of the Safeway grocery store, and Canada’s second Time Out Market food hall location.
The station upgrades are needed to accommodate the growing ridership from both the completion of Oakridge Park mall and the surrounding neighbourhood’s immense residential and commercial densification. Two major hotels are also proposed just west of the station and the mall site.
