  1. To afraid of Trump to stand up for the people who pay them.

  2. A lot of those same people are poor though.

They are one of two people in that case:
    – A house cat that thinks they are independent with no clue how they actually get to live their lives with such freedom.
    – Know they are poor, hate themselves for it, and thus hate others they project their insecurities on

  3. The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.
    J.K. Gailbraith

  4. Every con I know: “idk why everyone doesn’t just get born into a middle class household, receive quality public education, and use their parents’ connections to get a good job”

  5. Go back one more layer and you’ll find “I’m a moderate and both sides are bad!”

  6. >Fuck you, I got mine.

That’s the calling card of the moneyed Republican.

  7. Poor people, brown people, LGBTQ+ people, they just hate everyone.

  8. Poor people, the middle class, seniors, immigrants, etc

  9. Or “Instead of accepting my flaws and bettering myself, create a world where my flaws aren’t questioned.”

  10. Replace “poor” with “colored people.” A lot of poor whites are disturbingly fascist because they want someone to blame for their misfortunes and the wealthy give them the answer. These people will believe rich assholes since they have been conditioned to think that having a lot of money means you are a harder worker than them and one day they will get there just like Andrew Carnegie or Elon Musk.

  11. Most of the time it’s actually just stupid, poor people, voting against their own interests.

    Republicans love the uneducated.

  12. “I hate myself because I never have to pay for the externalities of my actions, so I want to kick poor people when they’re down and point to them as the problem”

  13. > I myself am/was poor and suffered for it. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone

    Also

    > I require everyone suffer and grind to escape the trappings of poverty

    Also

    > Receiving help along the way makes you a parasite

    Unless

    > That help came to you in the form of a trust fund, windfall, or government subsidy for your business (except in the case of DEI or any other reparatory program)

    TLDR

    > don’t be lazy, get a loan from your parents to sell jet skis or something

  14. More like “I will pass any bill from any lobby that pays the most”

  15. It’s not just that- modern conservatism, as much as that term applies, is a conduit for all kinds of grievance and bigotry.
