  3. UNpopular opinion: It is a very sane decision.

    If Eu wants to bring an end to this war without declaring war on russia outright, then Keeping Ukraine neutral is a requirement.

    EU/US need to stop demanding Ukraine to fight on + dangling empty promises while unwilling to declare war and get their hands dirty. There are enough ukraine ppl dead already, nobody has the rights to ask more from them.

    I don’t know anymore, if half of the country is openly anti-West and openly shares Russia’s political goals is it even a treason? Or is it just how our country rolls?

You know how ignorant that Polish presidential candidate must be because when you look at any map, Ukraine is all that stands in the way of our good friend Vladdy gobbling up the next domino, Polsky. I’m sure they could imagine those bombs and all of destruction on Polish soil instead of just Ukrainian soil.

  8. it has nothing to do with if Ukraine CAN join NATO (right now, nope) they simply can not now. Those are the rules. Simple redirection for political ends.

  9. If we are going to have a very low bar for what’s considered treason, then I would say the Polish PM is doing treason. He’s clearly not acting in the best interest of the Polish people.

  11. The US under Trump will never let Ukraine into NATO. Even under a different administration it is debatable, because it means a higher risk of being dragged into war in Europe, and the shift to the Pacific is the general agenda of the US, not just Trump.

    Germany is also likely to veto Ukraine joining, they already did that once before (Bucharest 2008 summit), and as long as their army continues to be a shell of its former self, they’ll rely on the US for defense and thus do their bidding on certain matters. So far they’re just producing more equipment, but there is no sight of actually building up the army, which will almost certainly require some form of conscription – a political suicide.

    With that in mind, it’s basically free to promise not to let Ukraine join, considering presidency term is 4 years, as there is zero possibility of Ukraine joining NATO in that timeframe. But as usual, people put more weight into words than into reality, a common occurrence on Reddit.

  14. Guys, so there is context to this, bc the situation has some caviats to it.

    Both the main candidates (T and N) are strictly opposing Russia. They just passed the first round of votes. There was a large number of candidates, counting M who was first – 15%, a member of Konfederacja, a party that is very pro USA, not too keen on EU. As far as i know (bc its often hard for me personally to find one comprehensive set of postulates) M is against Ukraines accession to NATO.

    M is out of the election but has 15% of voters who are VERY opposing of T and N’s parties and postulates. He proposed a „debate” in which both main candidates can convince his voters for themselves, essentially trapping both to either lose potential votes or to say things that allign with his views. N was first, and fell for this trap VERY BADLY. Im wrapping my head around this myself how it happened.

    In the end all serious candidates in their postulates are EXTREMELY anti-Russia (except two, one ex-member of Konfederacja who is batshit crazy who got 5% and second, unserious one, who got 0.1-0.4% of votes who is now ridiculed to hell bc hes a clear russian prop and everyone knows it).

  15. Before people not in know start pointing fingers and making the usual reddit comments. The candidate in question is not pro-russian, he is quite literally Wanted in Russia for his comments and actions towards soviet monuments, and he also vocally called them a “terror” for their invasion

    His opposition to them joining NATO comes from him wanting to pressure Ukraine to acknowledge and take responsibility over the ethnic cleansing the axis aligned ukranians conducted towards ethnic poles in Volhynia and Galicia (then he would allow them in)

    Dude in question is a piece of shit, but on grounds of foreign policy, that ain’t it
