  1. We can restrict it and it’s our right as is for every NATO member. Deal with it.

  2. Ukraine should join, no doubt about that, but it can’t join when the country is at war – that’s simply against the treaty. Also there’s a formal accession proces, the country should comply with set standards and all NATO members must agree.

I’m not sure how this was voiced, did they say never-ever?

  3. >The diplomat also referred to the declaration signed by Karol Nawrocki, in which he pledged his opposition to Ukraine joining NATO. – The decision to forbid or restrict some rights of Ukraine is unacceptable, he assessed.

    >At the same time, the ambassador negatively assessed Karol Nawrocki’s signing of a declaration prepared by Slawomir Mentzen, one of whose points was his disagreement with Ukraine’s accession to NATO. Bodnar stated that in his opinion, the integration of Ukraine into NATO would be beneficial for Poland’s security. – The decision to forbid or limit some rights of Ukraine is unacceptable, because it is a fundamental matter of existence for Ukraine, he said in an interview with the radio station.

There is no such thing as a right to join NATO, that’s up to the member states. Thus even if Nawrocki or Mentzen became absolutist ruler of Poland, no rights would be “forbidden” or “restricted”.

Did not do himself a favor with this statement.

By the way: This declaration to not sign any law allowing Ukraine to join NATO is only a more straightforward version of what European leaders think anyways. Here’s Friedrich Merz in May

    >“Ukraine has the prospect of joining the European Union, which will surely come before any eventual NATO accession, if that ever materializes one day,” Merz declared after meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte

It’s simply not on the table. It already wasn’t with Biden

    >The problem, they say in Kyiv, is that Biden, a man of the Cold War, has been focused on the idea that Ukraine’s membership to NATO would lead to World War III. Therefore, his legacy rests precisely on helping Ukraine in a measured way − given his preoccupation with avoiding escalation − in order to succeed in averting World War III.

  4. take it up with the US, because neither Biden nor Trump was very keen on admitting Ukraine into NATO anyway

  5. Ukraine will never join NATO, because Russia won’t allow it. Simple as that.

  6. A bit manipulative translation btw, in the article it sounds much better.

  7. There a difference between not supporting and defering the  question and signing declaration OPPOSING that.

Such declaration is exactly what Russia wants

  8. it’s really so hard for them to find someone who can make half decent PR? They are just aggravating people with such statements

  9. Ukraine has no *right* to NATO and that’s a reality. I would like to see them in it after the war concludes (or we arrive at a long enough armistice) but it’s Ukraine that has to do the work to arrive there, including convincing our goverment and our nation. Not to mention that we top had to put in the work before joining, as did all other member states, what do they expect?

I love the people, support them in this war, but there’s only so much charity work Poland and Poles can do until we’re gonna feel fucked over. Their PR with PL is horrible and only works against them, fueling also our domestic politics and damaging Polish-Ukrainian relations on an individual level.

  10. Fckin good for nothing moron that is in no position to dictate Poland what it should or shouldn’t do !!

  11. See Polish politicians? When neighbour do something that is against your state you shit on that neighbour.
