FRESH claims have been made that some children, who were allegedly abused by Lord Louis Mountbatten at his Mullaghmore estate, were trafficked to a premises in Fermanagh from Belfast.
Respected author Chris Moore has made a number of claims on a reported paedophile ring involving the senior member of the British Royal Family in his book ‘Kincora: Britain’s Shame’.
Three of Mountbatten’s alleged victims, who have made serious allegations about the former Royal Navy officer, have opened up on their experiences at his residence in Classiebawn, in Sligo. Previously, a number of allegations have been made around Mountbatten. It has now emerged that some of his alleged victims from Kincora Boys’ Home were trafficked to a local hotel.
A former resident of the Kincora home, Arthur Smyth, waived his anonymity to make a number of allegations against the uncle of King Charles III, who was murdered by an IRA bomb in 1979.
In 2017, a public inquiry into historical abuse in institutions in the North found that a reported 39 boys had been abused at Kincora Boys’ Home in Belfast, which has since been demolished.
Three former Kincora staff were jailed in 1981 for abusing 11 boys. They have since died.
However, the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry found there was no evidence that security agencies were complicit in the abuse that took place in the former premises in East Belfast.
The author of the book, Mr Moore, has raised questions about the British security forces during the time, asking whether they were focused on “protecting a member of the royal family”.
“One of their principle aims when they established at that time was to protect the monarchy and the family of the monarch,” the author explained to ‘The Irish News’.
“Does that still apply today when they are looking at the royal family? Are the Mountbatten allegations of five boys, are they known to MI5.
“Are they protecting a member of the royal family?”
Fermanagh cleric, Fr Sean McManus, who lives in the States, has spoken out in support of Belfast man Raymond Kerr, who claimed he was a victim of abuse at Kincora Boys’ Home.
The President of the Irish National Caucus said they were “proud to support” Mr Kerr.
“Granting the history of Northern Ireland, it takes remarkable fortitude for a Protestant to become a whistle-blower against British Intelligence — nothing is more dangerous,” Fr McManus said.
“That is why the Irish National Caucus – and every Irish American worthy of the name – are proud to support Richard Kerr.”
On August 27 1979, Mountbatten was killed when an IRA bomb exposed on his Shadow V fishing boat while he was on an angling exhibition, during one of his many stays at his estate in Sligo. Enniskillen boy, Paul Maxwell, died as a result of the explosion. He was working as a boat boy in Mullaghmore when the bomb detonated. The IRA claimed responsibility for Mountbatten’s murder.
