  1. A reminder that the “made in …. ” label on a product really means jack shit, and I suspect it is what apple may do here. Nearly 100% of the phone could still be made in China, and some menial task to complete the phone, lets say, installing the software (which would be automated) or putting the logo on the back (also automated) could be done here in the states and BAM. That phone was “made in the USA”

  2. Well, an iPhone made in the USA will be a lot more expensive than one made in China or India with a 25% tariff, and it’ll take at least 5 years to get a factory set up, as if that’ll happen.

    Good plan.

  3. Luckily Trump stands up for the Americans and demands Apple to pay the tariffs /s

  4. Take this man’s phone away. It’s too early for this shit

  5. I’m betting cost of living in China isn’t anything close to ours and neither is the pay.

  6. It’s like claiming Mexico would pay to build the wall. History seems to repeat itself.

  7. How can an American president target one company like this specifically? Serious. This seems so illegal.

  8. Strange new habit of “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

  9. Apple is already working on this.

I am in the ‘repair mobile phone’ industry.

There are fewer and fewer repair your mobile phone shops, especially around Texas.

There are rumors going around that six figure salaries offered by Apple for experienced shop owners.

  10. I have an easy solution, lets make China the 51st State that way we hit two birds in one stone, we resolve the rivalry between the two and all products made in the 51st state are tariff free. If this sounds as stupid as the Big Beautiful Bill so does the tariff idea with all due respect. For the first time in a long time I agree with Elon Musk that Peter Navarro who promoted this stupid tariff concept to generate revenue for the BBB legislature going to the Senate now is a moron. All of this is just a distraction that would not surprise me if somebody is benefitting from this. You can no longer trade this market, it is just like Russian roulette. Watch a tweet during the day that would either pull the rug or have the opposite effect. This is reaching a point that we will lose credibility worldwide if we have not already. What a chaos and we still have 3.5 years to go. I might have to take a long vacation from trading, this is just as moronic as Navarro himself.

  11. …and that is neither here nor there to the consumer. The consumer only cares about cost at purchase.

That leaves a simple dilemma for the manufacturer, are the savings achieved by importing higher than the tariffs avoided producing in country.

This is not that deep. Just like manufacturers decided to leave due to Labor costs, manufacturers can decide to return due to tariff costs. In both cases the customer doesn’t care about anything other than the cost at time of purchase.

  12. The complexity of following this is intense.

Not saying I wouldn’t like that infrastructure to be here, but it just doesn’t exist here.

  13. Knowing Trump, who is all about optics, making it look like Apple is manufacturing in the US is good enough

  14. Did Trumpkin finally learn how tariffs work? Don’t worry. It’ll blow over once Apple gives a millón dollars to Trump.

  15. Such and excellent strategy…. attacking American companies to bend a knee. It’s not like the HQ can’t move overseas.
