Exciting! If ever there was a track where driver skill is most important it’s qualifying in Monaco.
Let’s see if he keeps it, he caused an incident at the start of the session. Fingers crossed 🤞 The man is rapid!!
Incredible lap to steal it by such a small margin.
Although I’d be a bit concerned he’ll get penalised for the Villagomez incident.
Amazing time on such a tricky circuit and so crucial to get pole there
He is smashing it at the moment. As long he can keep it between the walls he should win it.
Great lap but Don’t think he’ll be starting from pole tbh.
He’ll be incredibly lucky not to get a penalty for that stupid lunge at the end of the outlap
This lad looks the real McCoy. First season in F2?
Irish driver in F1 soon

How long before the British media try and claim him as “one of our own”?
No way he doesn’t get a penalty for that move on villagomez though.
As someone who doesn’t follow the sport but wants to support the lad, when and where will this be on ?
Has it been confirmed?
Looks like it could be penalty?
Wonder where he could go if he does win f2
My guess is a reserve for the first year but with the new team coming and the shake up at Sauber it could open an opportunity for him
Hope he avoids the grid penalty. Can understand getting track position for clear air. Brilliant lap!
He is really rewarding the faith McLaren have shown in him. Not sure where he goes, though. There aren’t very many open seats right now in F1.
This is just so exciting. I was at the F1 in Bahrain and heard Amhrain Na Fhiann and thought I was imagining things! Go Alex!!!
Sadly he has been called to the Stewards office for the incident with villagomez at 18:15 CEST. We will know more in about an hour
He’s doing damn good this year. It’s funny how it all works that he can go from getting a single podium or two in F3 to then getting 2 wins in F2 and a pole position now as well.
Any word on penalty? Looks like he’s all good
Feckin legend
I’ve been watching Formula 2 this year and he’s the real deal. He is very daring amd not afraid to make risky moves and has had a race where her crashed into half the field. But beneath that is the raw pace Formula 1 teams love and winning F2 in your first season almost certainly gets you into F1, and he is currently leading the F2 chanpinship.
But unfortunately a lot of the F1 teams have already locked in their 2026 drivers so Dunne may find it hard to find a place. Also goimg into this year he was on absolutely no one’s radar as he was fairly mid in Formula 3 and one of the least fancied drivers going into this season.
He is currently a “junior” driver connected with McLaren. This is both good and bad. Good because McLaren are currently the best team in F1 and definitely have the fastest car. But bad because an F1 team only has 2 drivers and neither of the McLaren ones look like they’ll leave any time soon.
But you never know in Formula 1 and he needs to just keep doing his very best in what is in his own hands. And how fitting would it be that the same year that the main Irishman in F1’s history, Eddie Jordan, died, is the same year Ireland got its first F1 driver for decades.
