Not saying our football scene is a community of human rights activists, but the flag represents the South as Hajduk is seen to represent the south of the country and not enslaving people.

Hey idiot, first of all this is not confederate flag, it is battle flag. Secound it represents rebellion of south and Split is in the south so they use it in that context.
Confederate flag here has nothing to do with racism. it’s used as a symbol of resistance, nonconformity, south in general (geographic south, Split is the southern part of the county).

Racism is still a big thing in ultras community, a decade ago they were throwing bananas on the pitch and making “monkey noises” cuz other team had African players. So seeing only a confederate flag on the game is a step foward for these kind of people.
Most beloved players in the last 10 years in Hajduk were black.
Not to say there aren’t rasics fools in the stands but this is not the meaning of this flag.
