The show will take place on May 30th, and is the first of the basketball performance group’s tour across the country.

The Harlem Globetrotters are world-renowned and have a history spanning 99 years. The best basketball team in the world brings together a unique combination of sport, spectacle and fun. Founded in 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters have become icons of sports entertainment, blending their technical skills with impressive acrobatics and comical interactions with the audience.

Although they play basketball matches, the games are choreographed and focused on fun, and also aim to promote values such as fair play, inclusion and the joy of sport. Over the past few decades, the Globetrotters have reached nearly 150 million viewers in more than 120 countries.

On May 30th, the Albufeira Sports Pavilion will host the group’s return to Portugal. After visiting the city in 2009, the Harlem Globetrotters return to Albufeira, and bring with them a show that features some new features – including, for example, the unprecedented participation of a woman.

No-look passes, mind-boggling dribbles, tricks to outwit the opponent, it’s all part of the magic of the Harlem Globetrotters. This is what the show promises on May 30, which was presented yesterday (22) at a press conference in the City Hall’s Noble Hall. It was there that the Mayor of Albufeira, José Carlos Rolo, expressed his “proudness in hosting this very special event once again, just a few months before becoming European City of Sport 2026”. The mayor also recalled the importance of the sport in the municipality, referring to other events that have taken place in Albufeira, such as the Youth Basketball Festival.

The vice-president of the City Council, and councillor responsible for Sports, also expressed his satisfaction in welcoming the group again and was confident that “the house would be full”. For Cristiano Cabrita, “the capacity we have today to host this type of event is a reflection of the investment that has been made in enhancing the Municipality’s sports infrastructure”.

Carlos Barroca, representative of Fun Addict, the entity that is organizing the shows on national soil, was also present at the press conference to present the event. The director thanked the Municipality for its “immediate availability to host the show”, and highlighted the importance of the group in “encouraging young people to approach sports in a positive way”.

The Harlem Globetrotters’ tour of Portugal begins on May 30th in Albufeira. The show is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm, and tickets can already be purchased through Ticketline, for prices between €25 and €50. The organization also offers a Magic Pass, with exclusive access to the backstage of the show.
