India–Pakistan ceasefire shaken by overnight fighting in Kashmir • FRANCE 24 English

Mere hours after a ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan, its fragility was revealed, explosions lit up the sky above Indian administered Kashmir in what authorities claimed was a violation by Pakistan of their bilateral agreement. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious notice of these violations. We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. Pakistan said it remained committed to the truth. We have acted as a responsible state for the world and regional peace and stability and for the lives of millions of people in the region who gave a positive response to the ceasefire suggestion. The violations tempered the enthusiasm of those on both sides of the border who earlier had taken to the streets to celebrate the news. In Mumbai, students had even painted artwork of Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside the US President after Donald Trump first announced Saturday that a complete and immediate ceasefire would come into effect following a night of US-led negotiations. Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence. Pakistan’s foreign minister had confirmed the deal saying three dozen countries were involved in the mediations including Saudi Arabia and Turkey. He celebrated on social media adding that Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Minutes later, India confirmed that both militaries had agreed to halt fighting. If sustained, the ceasefire would bring an end to the biggest military conflict between the two nuclear armed states in decades. Until then, civilians will be waiting with baited breath.

  14. The IMF is funding Pakistan, a state that harbors terrorism, even while war is ongoing. Funding Pakistan is effectively funding terrorism directly. Indirectly, the IMF is sponsoring terror in India. How hypocritical is the West — they urge others to stop buying Russian oil to avoid funding the Russia-Ukraine war, yet continue to support Pakistan financially.

  23. India becomes the only power on earth which has successfully attacked another big nuclear armed state deep inside its territory with precision missile strikes – targetting terror camps, airbases, radars, defence systems etc, that too in such close proximity.
    No other superpower has ever managed to launch an attack of this magnitude on another nuclear power. Not US, not china, not russia, not Israel, not UK.

    This alone elevates india’s stature to that of global power status( if not already) 🇮🇳.
