Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 1.5M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2024, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, industrial roundwood imports rose notably to $52M in 2024. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $128M. From 2022 to 2024, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2023, Ireland (729K cubic meters) was the main supplier of industrial roundwood to the UK, accounting for a 91% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial roundwood imports from Ireland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Finland (34K cubic meters), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (15K cubic meters), with a 1.9% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 90% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $52M in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2024, the exports remained at a lower figure.
