The State Fire and Rescue Service informed the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, which is responsible for the technical maintenance and servicing of alarm sirens (and software), of all malfunctions detected during the test.

The State Fire and Rescue Service explained that the purpose of alarm sirens is to warn residents in the event of a natural or human-made disaster or threat thereof. There are currently 164 alarm sirens in the country.

In emergencies, other means of notification will also be used, such as loudspeakers and the sound systems of emergency services vehicles, door-to-door visits, notifications on the ‘112 Latvija’ app and other means, the State Fire and Rescue Service reminded the public.
