  1. This is fantastic news! Much better than off shore wind farms where it’s only windy… *<checks notes>*… all the feckin’ time.

  2. Surprised to see the ignorance in these comments about how efficient PV solar has become, even in countries with climates like Ireland.

  3. >One of the appeals was lodged by planning consultant Hendrik W van der Kamp Town Planner, on behalf of 63 local residents. Appellant Pat Lynch of Battersea House, Proudstown Road, Navan, told the board that the loss of 300 acres of good-quality agricultural land would materially contravene an overriding goal in the Meath county development plan of providing for agriculture and rural development.

  4. The article doesn’t seem to mention it, but do we have estimates of the production it’ll have? And based on that, to be easier to visualize, how big of a city can it power?

  5. You know the little centre wall that runs along the newer motorways. Why not hang solar panels on that

  6. Meath man here, it’d would be a great boost for the North-West of the county. I hope it gets through asap. Just don’t know if there’s much sun the far side of Kells by sure lookit

  7. So one complaint was its a waste of good farmland? 300 acres of this is alot more useful than more monocrop pasture for cattle.

The nimby reaction is so strong for renewables and I have no idea why

  8. Can the land under the solar panels be used for anything, like to graze sheep or something? Or is the light completely preventing anything from growing?
