Get your house in order, will signed and say your goodbyes.. Unfortunately I don’t see her surviving this.
I give it three days at most
How to make a movement about yourself…
I really hope she thought this through.
Admirable but I unfortunately don’t think it’s going to have any impact. Some guy in the US set himself on fire over this and it didn’t change a thing.
the IDF do not care
To clarify: Sophie Ní Choimín said ,”she wants the Government to sign the Occupied Territories Bill into law, which they have already passed and has been backed by the Irish public since day one. And that they increase international pressure to have food enter Gaza. Once food enters I’ll eat again.”
Byyee Felicia!
What a clown
Starving? Oh, that’s our answer to everything.
Has anyone heard of her band? The Kettle Boilers?
Eejit.
Poor brainwashed girl. She should be out living her life and thinking about her bright future but she’s been driven insane by propaganda about a conflict on the other side of the planet that has zero impact or bearing on her life. Fool.
I really hope she knows what she’s doing, having suffered with anorexia for a decade and going through years of battling with the HSE for treatment I can safely say politicians don’t give two fucks about anyone starving themselves, regardless of the cause.
In my late twenties now and semi-recovered but having spent so long severely underweight during my teens and early twenties I have the starts of osteoarthritis in my back and I’ve been told it is very unlikely I will be able to have kids. Starvation leaves a permanent scar on your body and mind, I really hope – both from the perspective of if this isn’t serious then it’s a disgusting thing to write an article about and if this is serious then she knows what she is doing.
The IOF end lives on a daily basis. As much as I admire the actions these ghouls will show no notice
People in the comments here are extremely ignorant of what she’s actually striking for. She is not (if you read the article) on hunger strike until the idf withdraw or until the food aid is allowed into gaza, she is on hunger strike to pressure the government to fulfill their promise of enacting the ‘occupied territories bill’. Yes, it is most possible that she will not be successful, but the act itself is commendable, and if nothing else, it again shines a light on the governments complicity and FFGs unfulfilled promise of enacting the bill.
I fail to see the point.
Hunger strike would make sense for an Israeli person, who is anti war. But we Irish are just one rung below a Palestinian life. The Israeli government would just see it as one less soul that they want gone from this world, without them actually having to do anything.
I wonder what she had for a last meal
“I’m part of a band from Galway called (band name). I am the lead singer”.
Absolutely sick to use the atrocities in Gaza as an opportunity for promoting her band. There would literally be no other reason to drop that into her statement other than for the purpose of self-promo.
At least the extra attention and Spotify streams should keep her going throughout her couple of days without food.
Of course one Irish woman starving is going to have more impact than thousands of Palestinians starving
For the absolute legends who didn’t even read the first paragraph of the article before blessing us with their hot take:
>A young Irish woman has made the extreme decision to begin a hunger strike until the Occupied Territories Bill becomes law and the children in Gaza are fed again.
“How can I make this war about myself?”
The 15k starving children don’t seem to be bothering anyone. This women is hoping she is ghandi.
She’s going on hunger strike over something that will happen anyway. There is no need for her to do this. The bill has to go through its due prices first. It’ll take a short enough amount of time.
Zraelis are just like ”Ah! Good! Saved a bullet!”
Lord rest her if she passes.
How can I make myself the main character of this genocide, whilst also tarnishing the memory of the hunger strikers within my own history?
She’s doing all that she can, within her power. It may not work but who can fault her?
They’ve killed 16,500 children in Palestine. One Irish girl won’t make them bat an eye. In my opinion, it’s performative and extremely unlikely to effect any change in policy.
It’s just sheer performance tbh.
That’ll definitely show Netanyahu. Why didn’t someone think of this sooner. There’s always some fool who’ll try to make anything about themselves.
RIP
Good on her, it’s great to see people taking action and standing up for what’s right.

This won’t last long. Let’s be realistic

I bet she’d love a better burger.
She’s throwing her life away.
ISF bots out in force for this one
