A Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Miami to London declared an emergency and diverted to Canada.
The Virgin Atlantic flight VS118 departed late from Miami Friday gate J7, May 23 2025 at 11:04pm EDT.
While cruising at 38,000 feet over North Atlantic, the crew of the Boeing 787-9 (registration G-VDIA) declared a general emergency (squawk 7700).
Before crossing the Atlantic, the flight turned left towards Canadian airspace as a passenger needed immediate medical attention.
The gentleman experienced a cardiac arrest. The crew utilized the onboard defibrillator and performed chest compressions for 30 minutes, successfully reviving him.
The flight diverted to Gander International Airport. After refueling it depart at 7:11 am local time and arrived at 14:52 BST at London Heathrow.
