Police say a serious crash has shut down all northbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway in View Royal, with no estimated time of reopening.
Police posted on X just after 6 p.m. that the northbound lanes of the highway were “shut down as emergency crews are attending a serious collision at this location.”
They did not provide specifics on what happened or the condition of those involved. The location was to remain shut down “for a number of hours” before reopening, though no specific time of reopening was available.
“Six mile on ramp has been shut down and traffic headed north bound is being re-routed,” West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar said in a statement.
DriveBC traffic cameras showed a long line of vehicles stuck in northbound traffic behind the accident.
“Please find an alternate route,” wrote West Shore RCMP. “We thank you for your patience as emergency crews work the scene.”
