EU tells Hungary to scrape its anti-NGO bill or face court.

1. Orban doesn’t give a crap about the court. Not one single crap. When is the EU going to understand that? Ten years of courts never stopped Orban from doing what he’s doing.

   So incredibly stupid to think he’s bothered by this. It shows the EU is still not getting it.

   If you want to deal with Orban, you need to make him a persona non grata. In the whole of Europe. He literally stole the elections, more than once, so no European country should even recognize him, to begin with. That’s where you start. That’s what the EU should do. There is no rule of law in Hungary, so Orban doesn’t give a crap about courts. Not one single crap.

   Also, what kind of Union allows Hungary in it? It says a lot about the EU that they allow de facto autocrats. I always thought the EU was here to protect us from this bullshit. Not allow and support it.

   So protect us.

4. Good on Hungary for protecting their democracy by not allowing outside powers to influence it’s elections.

5. EU really needs to take an outside look in how their writings are perceived.
   “The letter, sent to commission president Ursula von der Leyen, warned that the Hungarian bill would enable the government to defund and dissolve any organisation it designates as a threat to Hungarian sovereignty.”

   In a proper democracy, you already have want this possibility by rule of law. It’s the unchecked application this bill allows that provides the threat to democracy. This rule bypasses the checks and balances.

   Most people read “the government”, and include the legal system in their thinking, therefore some are reaching the conclusion that the EU does not want Hungary to fight threats to their sovereignty.

6. EU to countries aspiring to become EU members: “You have to deploy reforms to become a true democracy with a free press and the rule of law.”
   EU candidates: “You mean, like Hungary?”

7. Throw them out of the EU for God’s sake. Too much talk, not enough action!

8. This is quite revealing and comical. The EU’s authoritarian liberal reflex practically validates Hungary’s ban that foreign funded NGOs, media influence and activist groups are being used to manipulate national politics and Brussels will protect them at all costs. The EU is not defending democracy here.

   Hungary said: “We’re being manipulated.”

   The EU replied: “Shut up or we’ll punish you.”

9. eventho the Orban regime is funded by the EU, and most core corrupt cogs in the system are working because EU funds i honestly don’t think that closing the money tap will stop Orbán. the New bill is against groups who get foreign funding… but that will not be applied to themselves who are buying Ferraries and Hermes bags from Eu funds. Fuck them lol

   An other strongly worded letter, thanks Eu.
   Yall should have suspended all funds when the Anti-Civil law, or the Teacher-Status law was passed.
