  1. I see. And so what would he prefer to do? Perhaps Congress isn’t his calling. Maybe something more leisurely like volleyball coaching?

  2. Well John, by not working and not stepping down you’ve weaponized yourself for the benefit of the Republicans. Not for your constituents to whom you work for. Not for the Democrats.

  3. tough shit, Sparkles. Get your ass to work. And square your head back up on the way in.

  4. Man who increasingly sides with the opposing party over his own and has his own aides scared of him thinks it’s just a conspiracy against him.

  5. “stop asking me to do the most basic parts of my job that you will pay me the rest of my life for”

  6. must be awesome to have a job where you can skip work if you feel like it and still get paid

    brain-damaged fucker needs to resign

  7. Then quit. Or be removed. It’s not about other’s reactions to your illness. It’s the way you’re wearing it on your sleeve.

  8. He was elected to do a job. If he doesn’t want to , he needs to resign.

  9. This is his first real job. He lived in his parents basement until his parents got him to move out by buying him a mayorship. He was elected becasue he wore carharrt and the other guy was a dipshit tv doctor. America sucks so bad.

  10. The word “weaponized” has been weaponized. I hate it.

  11. I don’t want to go to meetings either. Stop oppressing me!

  12. >Fetterman lamented having to show up to hearings and expressed frustration that he’s picked last to ask questions because of seniority rules, according to The Times.

Time to resign and get a job better suited for him.

  13. If you can’t do your job, set aside and let someone that can do it

  14. Wait wait. His mental health has been weaponized so he’s going to show everybody by… not working?

Welfare Queen is the playbook he’s going for?

  15. “His Mental Health Has Been ‘Weaponized'” does he mean others using it against him or him using it against his constituents and colleagues?

  16. So he’s publicly admitting he wants to get paid a Senator’s salary but do zero work for the people.

Sounds like fraud. Sounds like an asshole.

  17. If he wants to do that while working in the private sector, more power to him, but not on the taxpayer’s money. Dude needs to gtfo

  18. Sounds like my mom, blames mental health for everything and thinks everyone is against her

  19. “Fetterman told The Times he would rather spend time with his family than show up for work.”

What a brilliant idea. Why hasn’t anyone thought of that until now? It seems so obvious in hindsight.

    What an absolute embarrassment.

  20. RESIGN we’re not running a goddamn nursing home you’re supposed to be a *REPRESENTATIVE*

  21. Dude needs to resign. He is brain damaged. Pennsylvania and America deserve better. Staying in office only serves himself, not the people.

  22. Let someone else do your job then! We have a RIGHT to representation!

  23. Must be nice to not show for work and get paid.

    Fuck you Fetterman

  24. The concept of a politician, once elected, as being for life must stop…

  25. Look having a brain injury sucks, but your not capable of handling that.

Everyone else who works knows if they get hurt will get fired or let go if they can’t complete the tasks of said job.

Dude it’s okay. Just get the medical help you need and go from there, hit politics ain’t it. I made peace I won’t be an astronaut. The sun will still shine

  26. From a recent incident:

    > Before long, Fetterman began repeating himself, shouting and questioning why “everybody is mad at me,” “why does everyone hate me, what did I ever do” and slamming his hands on a desk.

Valid alarms are being raised. There have been multiple instances where Fetterman has exhibited concerning behavior. He’s obviously dealing with unmistakable mental health issues from the stroke, and this is not just based on an isolated incident.

One of his main staffers even noticed it *last year:*

    > Fetterman’s one-time chief of staff Adam Jentleson told a neuropsychiatrist who had treated Fetterman for depression that the senator appeared to be off his recovery plan and was exhibiting alarming behavior, including a tendency toward “long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues.”

On a side note, this sounds all too familiar doesn’t it?

At any rate, Fetterman continues to angrily brush off these concerns. His behavior is often indignant or hostile, especially when confronted with these questions, and his state of mind is sometimes volatile. I don’t even think he has the wherewithall to consider recusing himself and resigning.

That said, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that there is an unfortunate number of representatives currently serving in Congress who—despite having no intention to retire or step down any time soon—passed their “best by date” long ago so to speak.

This has only served to make this problem the status quo.

However, these are also politicians who have been steadily declining over the years, but with Fetterman, I think it’s all the more unsettling and noticeable because he’s been slipping at a faster and more drastic rate.

There’s also the fact that many of his voters feel deceived because they thought they were electing a so-called “progressive” in Fetterman, but it’s become evident to a number of his constituents that some of his political stances—post-stroke—are not what they voted for.

  27. No, you’re literally just choosing to do a more enjoyable activity. That’s different from being unable to perform a duty bc of disability.

I have a really bad work history bc of my mental health, but I don’t get mad at my employers. They’ve often been really great. I was lucky enough to get a fellowship where I’ve been able to work on my own project this year and it’s been really good.

Unfortunately, depression, autism, and adhd make it really hard to have traditional jobs. But that’s just the way it is, so I don’t apply for jobs I know I’m not going to be able to do. I have a lot of criticisms of how our society is structured and of capitalism, but nobody is making him be a US Senator. He’s rich and could just retire and spend all his time with his family.

  28. Doing all he can to make sure he gets his lifetime pension and healthcare coverage. Won’t be reelected. What is that, another 2-3 years of this guy phoning it in and doing nothing?

  29. Must be nice to have health care if it’s a mental health situation.

  30. And he’d sooner be thrown in jail than make sure other people with similar health concerns, but no lobbyists or dark money bag drops, have no shot at any chance of taking time off to address those issues without losing their apartment/house. *Citizens United* was the starting gun for the acute phase of American decline. Should never have made holding office into a hugely lucrative proposition. Because it leads to grifters who are far more entertainer than policy wonk doing their best to get elected and cash in.

  31. “Weaponized” is a word being used to excuse yourself from criticism. As soon as someone uses it, I usually have to look closer to see if it’s true. In this case, I think Fetterer is desperate to hang onto his position by any means.

  32. Then resign, asshole. You vote against your constituents interests when you *do* bother to show up.

  33. Only a sitting representative could make this statement and pay zero price for it.

  34. “I don’t want to do my job, but I REALLY like my paycheck so instead of working I’ma gonna complain and play the victim because literally nobody can stop me.”

  35. John Fetterman, the self-styled champion of the working class, spent the bulk of his adult life living off his wealthy parents. With elite degrees in hand and no need to earn a real income (except his piddly $150/month mayor’s wage), he accepted tens of thousands of dollars annually from his family well into his 40s. He lived rent-free in a $1 building handed to him by his sister, and leveraged that curated image of gritty, blue-collar authenticity to launch his political career. He only started earning what could be considered a decent wage at the ripe old age of 50. His story isn’t one of sacrifice, it’s one of privilege disguised as populism. Why should him refusing to show up to work surprise anyone? He’s been man-child slacker all his life.

  36. This guy just strikes me as a terrible person all around. Yelling at people at work. Talking about how depressed he is all the time. Complaining about going to work in one of the most prestigious government positions in the land. What waste of space

  37. Resign. Get out.

Who the fuck do you think you are? You’re position isn’t about you. You represent your constituents. You are already a disgrace. Get out.

  38. Resign , you were elected to represent the people who elected you . It’s not about you , it’s about them

  39. Bitch, nobody WANTS to work. That’s why it’s called, “work” and not “play”.

  40. If he’s not able to fulfill the duties of his job, then he needs to step down.

  41. No different than the Congress people who sleep through or don’t show up to vote, end up in nursing care without a replacement, etc.

The rules of employment need to be in place or enforced
