Now do the rest we need to stop subsidising Europeans rail travel costs
This is great news.
I hope the government gets this right. Natural monopolies should not be run by private companies, but you can bet both the Tories & Reform will make a mountain out of the most minor issue.
It could be on time 99% of the time, provide the tax payer revenue and reduce fairs, but the opposition will find one old lady who missed her hospital appointment because of the 1% delay and run the headline “Government rail failures risk lives”.
