Pathetic as fuck

  1. Ha, I remember coming here when I was 21, sitting down at a hospoda for lunch the day after I arrived and seeing an 8-year-old girl come in with a bucket. The barman measured out however-many beers for her and she carried (with considerable difficulty) the bucket of beer out the door. This is not a common occurrence in the USA.

  2. Or even younger. There were pictures of my last girlfriends parents giving her beer when she was a toddler. I understand that is normal, although it seems to shock westerners

  3. I feel sorry for all of you, who tried it after 15 for the first time. I think, 8 years old is the optimal age. /s

  4. Oh, look at me I’m so edgy and cool. I know there’s a lot of kids in this subreddit, but the legal limit is still 18. And if you’re bragging about drinking at 15, you probably still hold competitions in who goes to bed after midnight. So I would save the pathetic.

  5. Haah, remember when i was a 5-7 yo kid, after parking my grandpa’s car into the garage, we back home and took some bottle of beer in a shop nearby, and he gave me a cup and pour beer right on bottom of cup, just a little.(i am not from Czechia, idk why i told that story xD)

  6. We used to ho camping in France in the 90s when I was a kid. We always saved money and visited few cheaper rural restaurants as well. I remember that around the age of 12-13 the waiter stopped asking my parents if it is OK to pour me a glass of wine and just started doing it automatically.

  7. I don’t know. Yes, I laugh at it too and somehow I feel superior next to the USA, because we have better beer and we can drink earlies. I think that it’s not ok to have alcoholism as a norm and for what is worse, parents are often encouraging it (I’m from wine family…). I think we should move past that. I know too many families and lives ruined by alcohol. Let’s not normalize, that 3 beers daily after work is not considered as alcoholism.

  8. I consider the Czech drinking culture pathetic, to be honest. It seems like about 70% of my social circle consider getting drunk just for the sake of it a preferable evening activity on most days when it’s possible due to work and their schedule in general.

This just feels like such a feeble-minded way to hang out with your friends and spend time in general. I wish more cultured ways to spend your time were popular but instead we have hospoda on every corner and it’s the only thing most people want to do.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine to get drunk with friends from time to time but I’d love to see it become an equal option among several, not the #1 leisure activity it is presently.

  9. on a serious note, I dont get how theres an age restriction on beer and not energy drinks when they can be so bad for children and adolescents as well

  10. Já, který v osmi letech pomáhal tátovi pracovat s lihem, trochu se napil a pak se smál další 4 hodiny:
    Pathetic v2

  11. My first time being plastered was in Prague and I was a 14yo on a school trip with 75+ other teenagers, our history teacher, his wife, and a bus driver. We drove from Paris to Berlin (the wall had just been brought down two months prior) where we saw the Red Army soldiers packing up; then we went to visit a death camp, drove to Czechoslovakia, went to the Opera in Prague to see “Gisele”, and got shitfaced in every restaurant along the way with local beers and liquors. Our teacher was drunker than all of us. The driver wasn’t fresh either. Oh and the bus A/V system was playing “The Fly” and a skateboarding VHS on a loop.

    Fun times.
