Saw a post by someone spotting an Adder the other day and thought I'll share the one I came across while hiking around Loch Muick! Also came across one at Loch Lee but did not manage to take a photo then.

  1. The last few weeks have been perfect adder weather.
Getting to see one this close is something quite rare.
    Congratulations, it’s a great spot.

  2. So, there are Adders in Scotland, and I also saw that photo and article you mentioned! I wonder were these two out and about on any special pursuits?

Here in New Hampshire our animals – turtles, turkey, fox/coyote – the ones we can hear! and of course all the birds are hard at it, nesting and carrying on.

  3. Excellent! I live in Texas, where we have Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes, Water Moccasins, Copperheads, and Coral Snakes and I’ve been fighting a losing battle for years to be believed when I tell folk that, _”Naw, naw, really. Honest, we dae so huv poisonous§ snakes in Scotland!”_ Now I can show them proof! 🤓

§ Yeah, I know it should be “venomous”, not “poisonous”, and that’s at least in part because I have actually eaten rattlesnake and survived. But your average non-snake-nerd Texan is just as likely to make that mistake as your average non-snake-nerd Scot, so they know what I mean.
