Herbert Diess and Elon Musk have an unusually cordial relationship, especially after Elon tried to hire him to be CEO of Tesla. Diess recently invited him to speak at an internal company conference at VW.
The union is currently out for blood at VW. Rumours are they want him gone. The VW union is probably the strongest in any company anywhere in Germany.

If only electric cars were developed 50 years ago … you have had enough time!
The only CEO that took EVs seriously and thanks to who’s actions VW is well poised to become leader in EVs. Great job, unions. Kill the company for a few years of milking ICE jobs.
>He noted that Tesla is improving its build quality and will be able to build a vehicle from start to finish in 10 hours, triple the time it takes Volkswagen’s main factory to spit out an electric car.
So according to this article, Tesla will at best build a car in 10hr while it takes 3.3hr to VW. What a poorly written artikel.
I think Diess admires Musk, because the later one can do what ever he wants in “his” company. Diess on the other hand has lots of other groups involved. From the managing board, the oversigh board, unions, politicians (25% of VW is owned by the state of Lower Saxony).
