  1. On 23 May, Ukraine and Russia began the largest prisoner swap since the full-scale invasion started, bringing hundreds of Ukrainians home.

    The exchange, involving a total of 1,000 captives from each side, was negotiated in Turkey on 16 May, marking the first official contact between Ukraine and the aggressor state since 2022.
