Doubt he will turn it around. General there is tremendous lack of leadership in Europe. All we see is managed decline. Idk what can be done against it…
Feels disingenuous as fuck to demand he submit to an ultimatum like that knowing the opposition in his own party is rooting for him to fail and probably going to try and help that along.
The kind of leaders we desperately can’t make it through the party structures that we have. It’s not just a UK issue.
Trump, Farage, etc, are buccaneering pirates of old, taking over the space left behind by the vacuum.
In the US, you can see it more clearly with the way Trump really benefitted by the marginalisation of Saunders and AOC. Democrats did it to themselves.
Starmer might be a fine lawyer, though his approach to Gaza has been tragically skewed, but he is not a leader in a time of crisis and transformation.
We needed a Kirk, and we keep getting Spock.
My main fear is that if this happens, there will be alot more doubt sown domestically about the UK government (As seen with Sunak), since the population will think they never voted for Starmer’s successor. This could probably hand Nigel Farage a easy ride into No.10, especially if an election is called if starmer is ousted & a new leader is chosen, which would be far worse domestically & in terms of foreign relations within europe than with what Starmer’s labour are doing (Though foreign policy has been their strong suit so far).
With any luck he goes with several knives in his back and ultimately ends up in the dock for the evil he’s given political and material support to.
Knowing the state of the Labour party now though we’ll ultimately end up with some other right-wing Tory-lite clown in charge after all is said and done.
Okay, I don’t follow UK politics very strongly… If at all… But he’s been in charge for how long? 1 year? Why does every government leader need to be able to make sweeping changes in just one year? Why is this what politics are?
Has he enacted tariffs and tanked the economy? Or has he just not done very much yet?
