He said that the nomination committee will decide this week on how to proceed with the selection process. Next, a recruitment specialist will be selected to begin the candidate evaluation process.
The new CEO will be appointed by the airBaltic board based on the recommendations of the nomination committee and the recruitment specialist, Martinovs said.
According to him, the entire selection process could take about three months. At the end of the process, Martinovs said, the public will be provided with detailed information about the evaluation criteria and the selection process.
Martinovs noted that the initial review of the applications shows that the vacancy has attracted a wide range of highly qualified candidates.
LETA has already reported that the airBaltic CEO job advertisement did not specify the salary for the position, but the airBaltic board has previously indicated that the salary will be negotiated individually with the selected candidate. In 2024, the former CEO of the airline, Martin Gauss, earned €838,568.
Until the competition is concluded, the airline will continue to be managed by its current interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer Pauls Cālītis.
On 7 April this year, the airBaltic board decided to dismiss Gauss, the airline’s chairman and CEO, from his position.
