I find it oddly satisfying to see people (E.g. colleagues) visit Paris thinking that it’s going to be heaven on earth, only to return in a state of shock and horror at what they’ve seen. Their dreams and expectations brutally shattered.
Don’t get me wrong, Paris has so much to offer and some truly charming areas. But the way foreigners idolise it and imagine it as some perfect, dreamlike city – it simply cannot live up to that expectation. No city can (except for Birmingham of course).
There’s a reason why the term Paris Syndrome exists.

I dont have issues with Paris at all, but I enjoy the memes. Same with Berlin or London.
My personal dissapointing cities were Venice and Lausanne. First one is just a huge tourist trap, too many Yanks. And the second one is a weird colony of very unfriendly people who all drive a Porsche. I’m generalising of course, some drive a Bentley
Oh and Madrid was simply boring. Felt like a huge version of The Hague (also boring) but it’s 42 degrees
