>What is going on in Gaza is a war crime, committed openly and in broad daylight, and continuing every single day….
>There is no ambiguity here: Netanyahu’s extremist government talks openly about using humanitarian aid as a weapon.
>What is happening in Gaza will be a permanent stain on the world’s collective conscience. History will never forget that we allowed this to happen and, for us here in the United States, that we, in fact, enabled this atrocity.
He’s not pro-Israeli.
“What we should be focusing on is ending the destruction and changing policy,” he said. “Let’s be clear, 52,000 people have been killed, mostly women and children. Over 100,000 have been wounded with the entire infrastructure destroyed. That is horrible. That is barbaric. That is the concern we have but some people want to argue about a word which the United Nations is now working to define.”
Summary: Basically UN are working on defining what this war is but what ever it is it should be stopped as it is definitely horrible and barbaric.
Damn bernie open your eyes
In fairness, he is not rejecting what is happening there, he hasn’t put his head in the sand(ers, lol) and is seemingly trying to encourage people to play chess rather than checkers with regards getting to the end goal.

>Ms O’Meara Sanders said calling the current events genocide would alienate significant allies in the US, of which, she suggested, there were already too few, and provide opponents with an opportunity to shift the focus of the debate.
>“The fact we’re spending billions of dollars on weapons for Israel would be just falling on deaf ears,” she said. “[Mr Sanders] wouldn’t have gotten 15 votes [for a recent Bill he introduced in the Senate to curtail military support to Israel] if he could be marginalised by a word.”
Ah lads, know when to hold ’em. This just looks silly.
You won’t find an American leader of this stature who has consistently, for decades, called out Israel on their bullshit so vociferously and from a place of genuine hope and love for the ordinary Palestinian citizen.
I’m sure the great man he is, he brushed them off quickly enough but this is one man who’s very much on the side of peace not just in the region but across the world.
I am very much a Leftie, and this type of crap really annoys me.
There are far more appropriate people to be picketing than Bernie Sanders ffs…
It’s kind of amazing how some extremely politically engaged folks can’t take yes for an answer and continuously try and shrink the tent. Like Bernie Sanders has more actual influence on reducing real-world harm on this issue than any person on this island, he is head and shoulders above his peers on pushing for actual help, and yet these people are trying to pin him down on phrasing.
Bernie is a zionist
The left eating itself again, that’s how they gave the US to Trump because Kamala didn’t go all in for Gaza.
Infighting amongst the left is why the right wingers win
Why do we attack the people most aligned with our position?
Plenty of Americans didn’t vote for Kamala Harris because she didn’t go far enough, and they got Donald Trump as their reward.
Bernie Sanders walked out of Congress when Netanyahu attended, when everyone else gave him a standing ovation.
Bernie posts videos almost daily talking about how awful the war crimes in Gaza are, and how it isn’t anti-Semitic to talk about them.
He hasn’t used the G word yet but he’s calling for a halt to what’s happening there.
Stop tearing this guy down on semantics, even if they are meaningful, when he’s trying to accomplish the same goal.
Bernie is probably the best example of a mainstream US politician that has consistently criticised Isreal.
This isn’t the fight lads.
If people think this is just a detail, then why would he stubbornly hold onto it in the face of evidence? Why can’t he just call it as it is?
The answer is that this is laying the ground for letting Israel off the hook.
Once they have murdered or expelled everyone, there will be general agreement (in the US, UK, Germany, even Israel) that this was a BAD THING that should never have happened and everyone was always against it.
Then they’ll pin it on the Netanyahu administration and start planning genocides in the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria – all of greater biblical Israel.
The genocide convention was designed to stop this and make sure it never happens again. It applies to voting populations as much as it does to individuals. The UN has processes for dealing with countries that do this to ensure they really stop.

I guess they felt the bern.
Why are people heckling Bernie Sanders?

That’s what Bernie Sanders wants to avoid.
