Veteran Inter defender Franceso
Acerbi returns to the Azzurri for the first two qualifying
matches for the 2026 World Cup, while 21-year-old Verona
defender Diego Coppola is new for Italy.

   
Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti has called up 27 players for the
match at home to Norway, Friday 6 June, and for the match on
Monday 9 in Reggio Emilia against Moldova.

   
The group includes 37-year-old Acerbi, (last call-up in March
2024), Bologna striker Riccardo Orsolini, absent for a year, and
Atalanta full-back Davide Zappacosta, last called up in November
2021.

   
It is an absolute first for Coppola, who comes in from the Under
21 group.

An initial group of 21 players will meet on Saturday 31 May at
the federal technical centre in Coverciano.

   
On the evening of Monday 2 June, the six players involved in the
Champions League final on Saturday night will join up: Inter
players Acerbi, Barella, Bastoni, Dimarco and Frattesi and
Donarumma, goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain.
